Good Evening troops!! Good Evening everyone! I had a Sea Cadet awards ceremony/holiday party today. Tomorrow is drill.

Sea Cadet Report:
So, we arrive and have set up, and are just generally milling around when the XO comes up to the color guard and asks us why we aren't ready to go. Well, he never told us we were going to be doing that today (The XO has an annoying habit of doing this). So we scramble around trying to put the flags together and get the helmets and holsters. Does anyone remember the last time I held the Navy flag during a color guard? Well, we all did, so we decided to switch me with one of the rifles. So, I have to learn all the rifle stuff and the timing before the ceremony starts. I manage to do that and we arrive at the "excessive milling around stage" of all Navy ceremonies. For those of you not familiar with this stage, this is the stage before the ceremony starts when everything is ready early and there is nothing to do. Then, finally the ceremony starts. 5 minutes before it starts, we learn that the reason the color guard is out today is that our unit is acting on behalf of a grateful nation when presenting two bronze stars to the family of a deceased veteran. Honestly, it was an awesome ceremony.

Then we got to Sea Cadet awards. Three people got moved up in rank (not me, I have to wait a month) and I received 4 ribbons, one with a bronze star: 2 Academic Achievement, 1 Color Guard, 1 Community Service, and 1 First Year.

After the ceremony, we got to have the party. I sat and talked with some other cadets, the XO, and eventually the CO. The awesome part is, I got express permission from the CO to test any cadet on any of the 11 General Orders tomorrow. Our unit has an inspection in January, and the CO wants to make sure everyone knows them. Since, I already know mine, I get to test everyone else. Especially the senior cadets. Mwahahaha! The CO said especially them. I shouldn't love this, but I am going to.

Also, I got permission to give my little brother a tour of the sub tomorrow and to show him my color guard rifle. He is so excited about that. I can't wait for tomorrow either. As he puts it, today was great, tomorrow is going to be awesome.

Sea Cadets Rocks!!!

Excellent report, minor, and congratulations on learning the "rifle stuff" for the ceremony, and then for your ribbons.
