ITHACA, N.Y. A nationwide poll finds nearly half of all Americans believe the U-S government should restrict the civil liberties of Muslim Americans.
The survey -- conducted this fall by Cornell University -- found that 44 percent favored at least some restrictions, while 48 percent said civil liberties shouldn't be restricted in any way.
Twenty-seven percent of the 715 respondents supported requiring all Muslim-Americans to register where they lived -- and 29 percent thought agents should infiltrate Muslim civic and volunteer groups.
The poll also found Republicans and people who described themselves as highly religious were more likely to support curtailing Muslims' civil liberties than Democrats or people who are less religious.
The executive director of the Muslim American Society says the news is disturbing, but not surprising.

Timothy McVey and Terry Nichols weren't. That has yet to be settled.

Am I the only suspicious that this poll came from Ithaca, the "city of evil"?

Yes, of course they can eventually, if we don't take a number of precautions, mainly securing fissile material and tactical nuclear weapons in the former soviet union. But it is highly unlikely that Al-Qaeda has a working nuclear device right now. A radiological device, perhaps. And the delivery method would more likely be a shipping container than through the border. Just trying to get the facts straight.

Wow. That's a real nationwide poll.
Where they lived in the past, or where they live now, and register for what?
Either the reporter never read the question, or the poll is simply more Cornell pro-terrorist bullsh!t.
Or both.

I'm more worried about north korea or pakistan supplying them than Russian stuff.
Either way though, it's all but inevitable. And your little dreams of worrying about their civil rights will vanish up along with hundreds of thousands of infidels.

I'm sorry, I missed the part where you talked about all of the Christian ministers going around the world preaching Holy War, mutilating female genitals, gang-raping girls and women who don't dress right, sawing off heads, enslavement.
If you want to tit for tat defending Islam, you're not going to do too well.

Now the Muslims will have the battle lines drawn back to them. Islam declared war on non-Muslims over 10 years ago, so we have been very slow to react.
If Islam knows that now they have to fight all of Christianity, all the Hindus, all the Humanists, and all the Atheists and other non-believers of Mohammed--they probably will not change their plans to kill us all, but they will know that the US is not going to sit back like Germany did and watch the Nazis destroy non-Nazi groups one-by-one.
Sayonarra, Islam.

Do you have proof for the assertion that Islam is the cause of nearly all world violence? I think the Colombians, and the people in Sierra Leone, Cote D'Ivoire, Liberia, the DR Congo, Haiti, Sri Lanka, and Burundi would disagree. Many blacks were lynched, not in the name of Jesus, but because it was believed that miscegenation was immoral under Christianity. It is important not to equate Muslims with Muslim regimes, the vast majority of which are quite oppressive. But what other way should Muslims (not Muslim regimes) address terrorists than to denounce them and demonstrate that they are not representative of their religion?

That was not a Palestinian issue. It was an islamic issue which happened to slip out in a palestinian context.
Keep emphacizing the "religious" facade of islam at your peril.

That is not happening here in America. Most Muslims who are educated consider a lot of this pre-islamic pagan customs, not Islam.

Your responses are exceedingly strange. Are you sure you know which thread you are on and what my position has been?
Slow down a moment. Take a deep breath. Relax. Put away the cigarettes ~ all they are doing is killing you.
Next thing you know you will be able to read what I post and not what you invent in your mind!

I guess you haven't heard much about OKC.
John Doe #2 has been identified as Hussein al-Husseini, who later went to work at Logan airport in Boston.
Nichols spent time learning bomb-making skills with Ramzi Yousef in the Philippines. Yousef was involved in the first bombing of the WTC.
Someday, we'll finally be allowed to know the truth behind OKC, though it may take many more years of cover-ups.

Niether North Korea nor Pakistan have weapons that would be usable to terrorists. We don't know what North Korea has, but both countries' devices are first-generation weapons ill-suited for a terroist attack. It is far more likely that terrorists would acquire materials or weapons from Russia. Some of the stockpiles are not well guarded, there is significant corruption in the military, and there are many members of the Russian scientific community which worked on these weapons which are not adequately employed. Civil liberties are not little dreams, they help make America the beacon that it is. We are also trying to win hearts and minds in Iraq, one way NOT to do that is by infringing on civil liberties here. Do you want to put our troops in greater danger by prolonging this conflict?

Islam declared war on non-Muslims over 10 years ago,A slight correction. Islam declared war on non-moslems about 1000 years ago.

It wasn't happening in Europe, either, until it started about 10 years ago.
The problem was that the Muslims over there were low in number, and behaved well (where we are today). Then they built up their numbers (to between 5 and 10% of most countries) and the Saudis built them mosques and sent imams full of hatred. Then they radicalized - and have now put Europe is on the verge of civil war.
What should true, peace-loving Muslims do? Real simple, first, kick the radicals out. Then invite scrutiny. If they have nothing to hide, they should ask that their services be taped. They should ask for extra security at airports and other public places. But all they seem to do is complain and file lawsuits. They act as if they have something to hide - so, I want to know what it is.

Actually, Arab Moslems got pretty much out of the serious war making business about 1,000 years ago when the Turks began whipping them.
The Turks won. The Arab speaking populations were pretty much kept as tax slaves until the Ottoman Empire was dismantled after WWI.
