GOP VOTERS STILL WANT GIULIANI FOR PREZ: POLL
New York Post ^ | 12/17/04 | IAN BISHOP

WASHINGTON — The stink of Bernard Kerik's rotten bid to become homeland security czar hasn't stuck to his chief cheerleader, Rudy Giuliani, who is a top pick for the presidency among Republicans, a new poll shows.

A whopping 68 percent of Republican voters want to see Giuliani run for the White House in 2008, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll — showing little fallout among the party base in the wake of Kerik's embarrassing exit.

[snip]

And it shows that if party faithful get their way, Giuliani would face off against Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in an Empire State showdown — which Giuliani would win, 45 percent to 43 percent.

[snip]

Although she's a favorite among Dems, 50 percent of all voters don't want to see the former first lady run for the White House.

I'm for Mark Sanford if he runs that is.. I don't know much about Allen. I thought about Owens, but the more I heard about Owens, I have decided not to support him... From what I have heard about Sanford, he should be the choice..

If you think the 'rats hate W, watch a Santorum run. Santorum makes their pointy little heads explode.
That being said, Santorum really hurt himself with his endorsement of Snarlin' Arlen.

"Governor Bill Owens. Case closed."

Yep. I am happy to say I voted for Owens. He'd be a great candidate.

Sanford took a spineless neutral position on the Confederate Flag in South Carolina. He wants to move on. Well isn't that sweat. After having just been bulldozed over by the forces of political correctness, he should be fighting to regain lost ground, not moving on. I have no respect for anyone who will not fight the PC forces of anti-Southern bigotry. The flag should go back on top of the Capital where it belongs.

"If only Zell was a few years younger I'd love to see it."

Do you want him near the launch button for nuclear weapons?

He will be funny on Fox News, but I'm not sure about him for higher office.

Well only if the nuclear weapons are targeting the al-Zarqawi and OBL terrorist networks. Then I say light 'em up.

Oh, I get it.

You're an exile.

Don't worry.

It happens to the best of us.

"You're an exile. Don't worry. It happens to the best of us."

LOL again.

Seriously, though, if I knew that I'd be subjected to constant U.S.-bashing (Bush is a moron, Americans are arrogant bastards, the coalition of the idiots), etc. etc., I never would have agreed to move.

It's like I told my husband, when we lived in Colorado, if you'd hear pretty much every day how Canada is horrible/the greatest danger on the face of the earth, and Canadians are stupid, in the newspapers, radio and t.v. coverage, you'd get sick of it pretty fast.

There was an article posted by a liberal American living in Toronto who feels the same way! But, I think it's better in the West.

Anyway, I have to go do some errands--have a great day!

And, sorry to everyone to get this totally off topic.

I like Sanford, I like Allen. I'm trying to survive an entire day without debating the merits of a candidacy by the "R" word. So far so good.

Would somebody please tell me one accomplishment he has outside the crime busting arena?

Here's one, taken from a glowing NY.gov bio:

"When Mayor Giuliani took office, one out of every seven New Yorkers was on welfare. Mayor Giuliani has returned the work ethic to the center of City life by implementing the largest and most successful welfare-to-work initiative in the country, cutting welfare rolls in half while moving over 640,000 individuals from dependency on the government to the dignity of self-sufficiency. In addition, Giuliani has enacted a record of over $2.5 billion in tax reductions - including the commercial rent tax, personal income tax, the hotel occupancy tax, and the sales tax on clothing for purchases up to $110 dollars."

Giuliani has no chance in hell of being the nominee or even being on the ticket. This is the guy that endorsed MARIO CUOMO !

If the GOP nominates him or puts him on the ticket their is no point in voting because either way the Left wins! What is Giuliani going to do in D.C. besides fight with Real Conservatives?

Don't shoot the messenger. I was just giving Broncos Fan the info he wanted.

I think Giuliani is perfect for a state like New York but wouldn't get as far as being a presidential nominee. F'n Kerry thought he could win a national race after long-term success getting elected in a very liberal state but he certainly learned otherwise. I would like to see Giuliani beat Hillary though...just not in a race for president.

I have held more offices and duties in the Republican Party than probably 95% or more of the FR constituency. I still am active. You are going to tell me and millions like me that we have no place in Republican politics? That is why you will lose and take the rest of us down with you.

Condoleeza Rice should be viewed and groomed and supported for the Presidency. Times have changed; thus you have three choices only, Mutate, Migrate or Die. Of the three, change is the easiest and most functional. Get with it and consider Condi for President as probably the ONLY person who can defeat Hitlery!!!! Hitlery has the socialist hate-filled base and the ignorant and corrupt. WE must counter this with innovation, not the same old Dole/ hack stuff....or die under Hitlery.

Perhaps that is the problem with the Republican Party, people who are more concerned about changing than they are sticking to principles.

So you are saying we have to sell out our principles to win?

IF we move to the left we will lose and deserve to lose.

Times have changed; thus you have three choices only, Mutate, Migrate or Die.

That is what liberals and RINOS always say. Their is the 4th choice which is stay and fight for your side. Reagan ran 2 times before winning in 1980 and was always told he must change to accommodate the views of RINOS. Well the rest is history that disproves your sell out theory.

Giuliani would be a terrible choice for a GOP presidential candidate IMHO.

Millions of evangelicals will set out a race between two pro baby-killers.

Bernard Kerik's chief cheerleader Rudy Giuliani..

Why am I not surprised the GOP wants this guy in office.

No more frauds, no more career politicians, no more rich elite, no more attorneys, no more illegal alien sypathizers from Texas.

Lets find a real American for president in 08, one that has a desire to take back our country from this open border lawlessness, one that puts America and it's people first.

He was fortunate to govern NYC during the greatest Wall Street boom in history. The economic growth during the 90s truly lifted all boats. As for his tax cuts, they were the fiscal equivalent of taking two floors off the Empire State Building . . . even after you do that, it's still pretty tall and taxes are still obscenely high. Rent control? He sided with the liberals in Albany. Education? Nothing. Bloomberg at least talks a good game on the subject.
