Frontal lobotomy,And some corrective shoes should do it!
"Back in the day", you couldn't hardly walk into someone's house in my neck of the woods that didn't have a gun rack mounted on the wall, loaded with guns...Guess people liked to show 'em off...And sometimes, the guns were loaded...
Guns are no more dangerous now, than they were then...As we know, the problem isn't the guns...The guns haven't changed, the people have...
I grew up with guns. I have been shooting since I was three. My father was a police officer and taught me not only how to shoot but how to respect firearms. He never kept his guns locked up and never had to worry about my messing around with them. I have since passed this on to my own children. Teaching your children about firearms at a young age is a must.
About the article and other posts:
This current incident has nothing to do with the owners not locking up the rifle. It has to do with a 6 year old that has emotional problems. No video games, tv shows, or unlocked guns led to this shooting. A willful, emotionally disturbed boy, angry at his sister and unable to quantify his actions led to this shooting. For anyone here thinking a 6 year old is unable to understand consequences you are sorely mistaken. If this were true then almost every kid would have killed a sibling over something at one time or other in their lives unless they were an only child. Be it with a gun, bat, knife, or hatchet.

On my, didn't know anyone else here ever saw or heard of that movie!!
One of my old time favorites! Patty McCormick as "the Bad Seed?!"
This was not an accidental shooting. This kid knew what he was doing and did it. Kid needs counseling in a major way.
"I got to choose my own switch." ROTFLOL
Merry Christmas "Killer"!
I feel bad for the boy's sister. I hope she is able to recover mentally, as well as physically.
While we all know that an emotionally disturbed six year old should not have access to a gun, I agree with those who feel that he was intent on harming his sister. Had a gun not been available, he would have simply used something else.
I want to know more about this young man's pattern of behavior. Has he harmed animals? What else has he done to his sister? What do his teachers say about his behavior? Does he have any friends? Has he been previously diagnosed with any kind of mental disorders?
The fact that he feels no remorse for attempted murder is alarming. Counseling? I hope that is enough. I suspect we haven't heard the last from this miniature psychopath.
The gunman is just 6-years-old.
Dumb@$$ editor shouldn't hyphenate that. Only if it modified something else.
On the reality front:
Horrible that this was ALLOWED to happen, and blessings that she wasn't killed.
I would have never thought of shooting him with a real gun no matter how mad he made me or what problems I had. This child needs some help...fast.

Probably likes to set fires , still wets the bed too.
Pardon me but, what a bunch of f***wits.
Yeah; right. Give the kid an excuse for inexcusable behavior. Typical. Obviously, if the evil gun had not been in the house, this would not have happened. < /sarcasm >
Give me a break! No agenda here. No sirieeee!
No, but it sounds like this particular 6-year old, with a little gun training, might have killed his sister....and still had no remorse.
If I lived in that house I would sleep with one eye opened.
I have a feeling that this family will probably be getting a housecall from Dept of Family & Child Services.
If the guns were in house, and the burglar has to break into the house, wouldn't you say the guns were actually LOCKED up as they were inside and therefore SECURE? That would sure negate any law suit in this state. If yours is different, well let's just say I'm glad I don't live there. ;>)
