Hope it's the start of a trend and not just wishful thinking.

There have been articles like this in the Arab press from time to time, but they are immediately drowned out by the likes of Al-Jeezera and/or out-of-controls imams who like to issue fatwas on decent people calling for some hard looks in the mirror.
We can hope, though, you're right.

I read at least 3 articles in the last week alone that sounded like a few Arabs are coming around.

The authors of these articles better have good security.

Well, it is Kuwait.
They are about our only open supporters in the Arab World.
Does anyone else remember the Iraqi ambassador to that Arab conference standing and screaming at the Kuwaitis: "You monkeys!"? - Among much else.
That was right before we invaded, and I'll never forget the way that Kuwaiti sheik sat there and laughed at him.
I still believe that he was thinking, "That's fine, soon you will be dead."

Notice also that the writer is Kuwaiti, writting in about the only Arab country who thought dragging Saddummy out of a hole was a good idea. When articles like this start being commonplace in Eqypt, Saudi, and Quatar,...then I'll have a slight, low level glimmer of "maybe"?

I'll put this book on the list; I really like that passage you quoted - thanks.
I've seen mostly positive reviews for the book and it will be good to read something positive for a change!

Our media doesn't show us what is really going on in Iraq, but the Kuwaitis see it every day. They see our guys trying to help the Iraqis, they see them working to build schools, hospitals, showing respect to Iraqis who are working with them. The Kuwaitis have truckers making runs every day, they also have a lot of people working in Iraq. You can only look at these things so long before you figure out that they are real.
Add to that the Kuwaitis also have benefited from the US military back in GWI.
One of the things I have found out about on the Iraqi blogs is just how tolerant the Iraqi society is as a whole.

John Gibson (FOX News) was commenting about reading an article that said:
"the only countries in the Arab world who were going to be able to vote and decide for themselves are those countries that America helped liberate".
Maybe there is hope yet. You can only keep people mushroomed for so long.

History will show that the actions of Presidents Reagan, Bush and Bush have saved the world from the Third World War.
On more of their kind will be needed in 10-20 years to minimize the chaos from the dissolution of the EU.

Another comment, regarding "moral clarity" - the lack of moral clarity, primarily from the Left, is discussed at length in the book. Understanding this was an "ah-HA!" moment for me, as it explained much seemingly totally irrational behavior from the Left.

A new wave of progressive thought has begun to emerge in the Arab press, with a number of recent publications denouncing traditional Muslim views and anti-American ideology. Seems tigers really will change their stripes under due pressure.
And I'm not talking about the Arabs...
