One of the key points Shanansky makes in his new book, The Case for Democracy, is that popular opinion ending a fear society can reach a tipping point very quickly, and make for very rapid change. He makes the point that Islam is in many ways a fear society, and that great change could happen quickly.

I've been pushing his book, since finishing it several weeks ago, as I think it offers great insight into how to approach the war on radical Islam.

My favorite passage from the book:

"Over the years, I have come to understand a critical difference between the world of fear and the world of freedom. In the former, the primary challenge is finding the inner strength to confront evil. In the latter, the primary challenge is finding the moral clarity to see evil."

I'll put this book on the list; I really like that passage you quoted - thanks.

I've seen mostly positive reviews for the book and it will be good to read something positive for a change!
