WAS Bernard Kerik a stalker? As the illicit romance between former top cop Kerik and publishing titan Judith Regan went down the drain in late 2002, the jilted Kerik snapped, according to people who knew them both. He not only followed his ex-lover around town — he seemed to be following her children, two business associates of Regan's told me yesterday.
One associate, who has not seen or spoken to Regan in a year and a half, said, "She had me in her office one day, raving about how he was stalking her." That was in late 2002, long before Kerik came this close to leading Homeland Security.
"He's insane!" Regan told the associate.
When Regan ate in a restaurant with another man, Kerik called her cellphone, or had the management page her, said the source. Once he got her on the phone, "He'd describe the man she was having dinner with. He seemed to be watching her through the window," the associate said. He kept a key to her apartment, said another pal, and showed up unexpectedly. On a business trip to Los Angeles, she said, he had her followed.

I confess I haven't been paying much attention to the news lately. Christmas shopping, etc. Last time I looked, Kerik was a 9/11 hero, former cop commissioner who just got back from training the Iraqi police. Now he's a mobbed up, adulterous psycho stalker on the take. This guy has gone from hero to scumbag in record time. Just like a whole lot of people were waiting to stick the shiv into him.
Imus said that Kerik went from Horatio Alger to Joey Buttafucco in one week.

In his biography, "The Lost Son," Mr. Kerik said that his wife, Hala, now 35, is part of a close-knit Syrian Christian family and arrived in the United States at 14. Family members of hers reached by phone - Mona Matli, of Oldsmar, Fla., and Reem Matli Safar, of Maywood, N.J. - politely declined to say anything when asked about the nanny.
The problem with Kerick is he has blue state values. just like Rudy. Whoring around on their women, etc. etc.
Love these two questions proposed for the vetting process:
"Have you ever belonged to the Ku Klux Klan? Although an affirmative response here is the kiss of death for a presidential appointment, the candidate may still aspire to elective office, as Senator Robert Byrd (D-W.VA), can attest."
Then there's my personal favorite:
" Have you ever failed to report someone drowning in your car? If yes, the candidate will probably not make it through the confirmation process, but still can hold out hope for a Senate seat."

Missteps Cited in Kerik Vetting by White House

A major problem, law enforcement officials said, was that the White House did not have the benefit of any F.B.I. investigation into Mr. Kerik's past. Mr. Kerik, as New York City's police commissioner on Sept. 11, 2001, had been offered a high security clearance by federal officials so he could receive classified intelligence about the city's security, a law enforcement official said. But he failed to return a questionnaire needed for the F.B.I. to conduct a background check, and he never received that clearance, the law enforcement official said.Mr. Kerik said on Tuesday night through his spokesman, Christopher Rising, that he could not remember receiving the questionnaire. Mr. Kerik still received classified information from the F.B.I. and the C.I.A. regarding security issues in New York, the law enforcement official said, although the police commissioner was not given the most sensitive intelligence about the sources of the data. He served as police commissioner through the end of 2001.
Mr. Kerik also failed to complete a required federal financial disclosure form in May 2003, when he left the country to spend three and a half months in Iraq trying to train Iraqi police officers, a law enforcement official said. The disclosure form, law enforcement officials said, might have turned up some of the financial problems that surfaced this month in connection with a condominium he owned in New Jersey.
What's even worse, is he apparently provided the shiv.

Calcowgirl: You are all over this. Great catches. And of course I poached some of your prior posts for the list above. This guy is toast. Let's just hope the administration gets it together on the next nominee. Personally, I think the nominee needs to have demonstrated leadership experience within a very large, federal executive agency. I don't think a police chief is going to cut it. DHS is just too complicated, with scores of agencies and an incredible number of moving parts, plus the requirement to interact with the Defense Department, FBI, intelligence community, etc. . . . I am not sure who really fits the bill (perhaps a retired four star general?).
I'll have to contact Empire Life College to see if they'll give ME a degree based on my life experience.
Yet he was chosen to be the Director of Homeland Security for the security of our country, and it only took a few bottom shelf reporter types to figure this out.
