Calcowgirl: You are all over this. Great catches. And of course I poached some of your prior posts for the list above. This guy is toast. Let's just hope the administration gets it together on the next nominee. Personally, I think the nominee needs to have demonstrated leadership experience within a very large, federal executive agency. I don't think a police chief is going to cut it. DHS is just too complicated, with scores of agencies and an incredible number of moving parts, plus the requirement to interact with the Defense Department, FBI, intelligence community, etc. . . . I am not sure who really fits the bill (perhaps a retired four star general?).

Not really. Certain things have just stood out to me. Here's an article posted about other background checks that Kerik may have avoided. (Post 37).

And of course I poached some of your prior posts for the list above.

Poach away! That was my purpose in posting it, since you've put together such a great list.

I don't think a police chief is going to cut it.

At the bottom of the thread linked herein, there are a few articles that say Ridge was recommending Bratton. It looks like Bratton, Baca, and others are all expressing no interest (thankfully).

I am not sure who really fits the bill (perhaps a retired four star general?).

I like it!
