This is a very complicated subject. Western values tend to be more "catchy" than arab/islamic values. In other words, having a western influence in the middle eastern cultures will be more invasive than the arab/islamic influence on the west. A muslim visiting the west is more apt to assimiliate to western culture than a western person is apt to take on the islamic culture if visiting the middle eastern culture.
The mass imigration of arabs/muslims to Europe is not hidden as was the Trojan horse of lore. Turkey joining the EU is a much more subtle shift.
I firmly believe that once people of this part of the world are exposed to freedom and a better standard of living for several decades, this is what they will come to expect and they will toss off the oppresive yoke of Islam and the perverted way it is used in the Arab and Persian cultures.
It is only a matter of time until this backward part of the world is taken in to the modern world, either by influence or by force. The only remaining question is which one it will be.

I understand your point. This view underlays the Afghani and Iraqi projects we now are involved in. But when I survey the world at large, I find very few places that appreciate freedom and liberty. Third-world countries that have a colonial past haven't maintained their freedoms when given independence, such as parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. Even Eurabia is falling apart, which is more disturbing considering that these people should have an experiential appreciation for freedom and liberty that third-worlders never enjoyed. It seems that the United States is, indeed, the last best hope for mankind. It seems that those countries who align themselves with the US will have a chance for a future (Britain, Japan, Australia, Italy, et.al.) Those countries that choose otherwise will falter and fail (France, Germany, Russia, et.al.). This is my view.
