For his research, he consulted known pedophiles, including one who took detailed notes on a 24-hour marathon session of sexually abusing a young boy. In the name of "scientific open mindedness," he didn't report the pedophile to the police. That doesn't make him a pedophile himself.

Right, of course. The accusations of him being a pedophile, from what I can tell, are sketchy at best. The evidence for him being an auto-masochist, abusing himself with a razor blade, seems far more substantiated, though.

Whether he was a pedophile personally, or just espoused it, promoted it, and paid others to commite sex crimes against children, is there a huge difference?
