Harrison Ford is to star in what will be Hollywood's first feature about the current Iraq war. Producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher have bought the option for No True Glory: The Battle for Fallujah, a non-fiction written by Slate reporter Bing West.
The book is due to be published in May and tells the story of an assault on Iraqi insurgents in Falluja, from the perspective of US marines.
Variety reports that Ford is already attached to play General Jim Mattis, in charge of the attack. Shamberg and Sher's production company Double Feature has already been working with Ford on the medical drama For His Sick Kid, based on the novel by Geeta Anand.
It is probable that the film will strike a different tone to the only major feature about the US's previous war in Iraq, 1999's Three Kings, which told the story of a group of cynical, self-serving US soldiers. West's coverage of the war has tended to side with US troops.
I can only imagine how Hollywierd will portray this. Think I'll just stay home for this one.
That would be cool. I wonder if Hollywood has gotten the message? Naw.
It'll be tasteless for sure.
Ford isn't exactly a spring chicken any more, what is he going to do? Issue orders from behind a desk?
Harrison Ford the guy who said last year he prefers a regime change on both sides, meaning Iraq and the US? What`s he going to do, make a movie showing US marines killing "innocent Iraqis"? I always love when liberals say that because you know they aren`t talking about women and children but their heroes, Al Qaeda and all the rest of those wackos.
Maybe he's playing Baghdad Bob?
"Blast 'Em, Chewie!"

Slate? No thanks, I pass.
Is Ford already done with Raiders of the Lost Ark? I heard he was doing another one hmmm.
It must be time for a new, younger girlfriend.
I think the title of the 'film' provides a window into what it will try and convey.
My guess, it ain't gonna come down on the side of America.
Not interested in Hollyweird's portrayal of the war.
Given Ford's age, I think the working title was "Indiana Jones and the Prostate of Doom".
Bad taste.
All I can say is that if it even smells PC, it will bomb at the box office. I can say that after watching what happened to Alamo, and Alexander.
Three Kings was a pretty good movie, and pre-911 its PC shots at Bush Senior were expected and thus ignored. Post 911, it would not fly. People have lost patience with that kind of silliness.
"No True Glory: The Battle for Fallujah"
This doesn't sound positive. In true Hollywood fashion. Sorry Harrison Ford has to lie down with the dogs.

I agree. Sounds on the surface like an antiwar propaganda piece.
