In college days, I was aware of them. They were the fringe, and beyond the fringe, who believed fluoridation of the public water supply was a communist plot to poison us; Dwight Eisenhower was a closet communist; the Trilateral Commission and Council on Foreign Relations were part of the drive toward "one world government"; Jewish bankers ran the world economy and the United States should get out of the United Nations.
Without buying into the paranoia and conspiracy theories, I am now a convert to the last one. The United Nations does not serve the interests of the United States or the objectives of democracies. The oil-for-food scandal, in which billions of dollars were misappropriated in Iraq, exposed a corrupt bureaucracy, rotting from the head. In the U.N., the United States is opposed by dictatorial regimes who are treated as our equals.

The UN is a humanistic institution (one of its architects, Alger Hiss, was a Communist spy.) Because the UN is based on the humanistic proposition that human beings can get together and talk, and work out all their problems, it has failed, and it will always fail.
The only reason I can see to stay in the UN is if the political flak we would take for leaving is greater than the political flak we are taking while staying.
Our War on Terror has revealed the UN and world diplomatic community to be spineless and morally corrupt.
We should have been out long ago. Let 'em move to the Sudan.
Cal Thomas ping.
Let's relocate the UN to Somalia and see how quickly they clean it up. Then perhaps, let's send the envirals to Mars to see how quickly they stop global warming on that planet.
look at the bellsouth.net home page they have a poll on the U N out of the U.S.A.
One small step in the right direction!
The UN is utterly worthless. Their hypocrisy on on the world stage for all to see.
We are painfully aware of it and it's outrageous!
Paul Weyrich, who heads the conservative Free Congress Foundation, writes in his Web commentary, "The U.N. now is dominated by nations of the Third World whose values are so distant from our own that they won't even object to the genocide occurring in the Sudan." Weyrich says he opposes any form of "world government" because, "It would only mean that a cabal who hates our religions and our way of life could gang up on the U.S.A. No good could possibly come from such an institution."
Exactly right!
I went to "bellsouth.net" and it redirected me to the company's business page. Could you post a link please?
look back at # 8
Yes, and the OFF scandal has revealed how human suffering is less important than lining their own pockets.
All those in favor of the US leaving UN, raise your right hand. The "ayes" have it.............motion passed
I certainly hope by this (world diplomatic community) you are including the US Congress and Senate, the State Department, the FRC, the USSC and the resident of the White House.
If you aren't, then you need to open your eyes a whole lot wider! Getting the full view means looking at the entire 360 degree picture.

Why does it take so damn long to get people to open their eyes? "Afraid of the tuth " is a national disease!
Go to Drudge and look for Cal Thomas under journalists. The story is there
Worthless. Your link redirects to http://www.bellsouth.com/consumer/InternetSvcs.html which does not contain the poll as you stated. Next??
There is no need to "get out" and take any political flack. We should help establish an organization of free nations and defer to it on decisions that affect the world. We can just ignore the UN as the bunch or corrupt dictators it is.
