MOSCOW, December 15 (RIA Novosti) - According to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy, over 210,000 foreign cars will be assembled in Russia in 2005, Nikolai Sorokin, deputy chief of the industry department of the ministry, said at a conference, Foreign Cars in Russia.
In his words, long-term forecasts suggest that over 1,200,000 Russian cars will be assembled at Russian plants, over 400-450,000 at joint Russian-foreign enterprises, while new imported cars will account for 400,000.
According to Sorokin, car production at joint enterprises is being hampered by the lack of lines producing car components.
"In my opinion, there is no joint enterprise now that implements Decree 135 of the Russian president. According to this decree, such enterprises are to start producing car components five years after they were launched," he said.
Sorokin continued that Russia was in talks with the Korean car concern, Mando, which is ready to invest $50 million in the production of car components at Russian plants in early 2005. The production units that may be involved in the project include VAZ, the Elabuzhsky plant and the Izhevsk car group.
"In early 2005, the timeframe, the funds and the technological base will be agreed upon for the Koreans to set up their car components line," said Sorokin.
According to the Ministry for Industry and Energy, car production at joint enterprises trebled in 2004 on 2003. Over the nine months of 2004, 103.8 thousand foreign cars were assembled at joint enterprises of Russia.
Dictionaries don't? ;O)
'in soviet russia car assembles you'
If this is the best you can do, do us all a favor and go away.
"If this is the best you can do, do us all a favor and go away."
And that's how you wage an intelligent debate. Simply wave your hand and discredit whatever is said. Nicely done.
/ sarcasm
Yeah, flat 13% income tax rate, 24% corporate rate, cut in government size, abortion illegal after 12 weeks, prayer allowed and incouraged at school, no sales tax, cut down in government regulations, christian culture taught in schools, right all that is bad and evil. You sure you don't belong on DU?
The post was loaded with misspellings, cited Russian data as evidence that "tarrifs [sic] work", and held up Vladimir Putin as an economic expert. Fact is, we did not need tariffs in the United States to have a thriving automobile industry; foreign assemblers built plants here because there was a good market for the cars and it made no sense to continue to source from Japan. That's why Toyota and Honda both have assembly plants within 150 miles of where I currently sit. The post barely deserved any response at all, frankly.
You know.....Omar Tarrif... He works......an Actor and Bridge expert.....
Explain to me please why Russians are emigrating to the United States in droves if Russia is such a paradise. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Putin is fast become an old-line Russian despot.
"Tarrifs"
Russian spelling.
Maybe because at the moment there is still more money to be made here, before we collapse our economy from endless spending. But the topic is not that, it was economics, and in your brilliance, you dismissed everything with a wave of your hand.
Since then 5 major automotive plants: Jeep, Chrystler, Ford, BMW, Mercadies have openned and Tyoto is looking for a place to make six.
At least 4 misspelled words and a couple of grammatical errors in this sentence alone.
By the way, Jeep, Chrysler, and Mercedes represent a single company. And look just below the tagline box for the "Spell" button.
They also represent 3 assembly plants with 3 different lines of cars and 3 different partnerships.
He was tarrific in Doctor Farrago.
Thanks.
Actually most of the non-paranoid, intelligent analysis of Putin I have read says that economics is his strength, and charisma (or lack of it) his weakness.
One article I came across a month or so ago about his decision to strengthen centralization of government said that investors are thrilled.
