I never thought I would write the following words, but: God bless Hillary Clinton. Though her motives are cynical, their effects may well be vital both to our national security and to our sovereign responsibility to control our borders. Republican presidents and congressional leaders have for years effortlessly and painlessly given short shrift to conservative Republican congressmen calling to secure our borders and end massive illegal immigration. But they ignore Hillary at their mortal peril. Immigration and border legislation in 2005 is likely to be the last chance the Republicans have to put their stamp on those issues. Their failure to do so would: 1) give Hillary three years to champion such Buchananite reform; 2) visibly split the Republican Party on the issue; 3) thereby undercut the Republican unity President Bush will need to pass his Social Security and Tax reforms, and 4) set up Hillary to patch together an unlikely, but formidable, electoral coalition of disenchanted border-security Republicans and main street Democrats for the 2008 campaign. As Hillary knows better than most, politics makes strange bedfellows.

IMO, given the penchant for many dems to vote a straight ticket, and the votes she would garner because of the serious immigration problems in AZ, I think it's a no-brainer....she would, and pick up votes in Socal, NM, and half of TX.
Scary huh!.
Sounds reasonable to me.
I don't think Blankley's point is that she is a wonderful person or someone to be trusted. Exactly the opposite.
I think he's saying the Pubbys need to keep their eye on the ball. To date, they haven't done much that is noticed about protecting the borders and it could really hurt them.

Run Giuliani on the GOP ticket, throw in an anti-abortion Christian conservative third party challenge, and Texas could be in play for her as well.
I will say it again.. we NEED to nominate a conservative candidate who will enforce border security.
"How could anybody possibly believe one word, JUST ONE WORD that the leninist, lesbian, legally-challenged liar has to say ???"
My sentiments exactly!
We have all been saying this issue would rise to the top. And look who has stepped up with a gleaming pair of brass balls.
THEN, 2006 and 2008 will be "good" years.. else republicans will have proven they can't handle power, and don't deserve any.. The Shrubs will follow Bush anywhere.. real, conservatives WILL NOT..
Nothing is done about illegal immigration because the Pubbies are afraid of the MSM and Dems castigating them, and then losing the Hispanic vote, like what happened in CA with Gov. Pete Wilson and Prop. 187. It is going to have to be a bi-partisn effort. If Bush could get even just a couple of Dems to sign on, it would make it much more possible. We need Zell to talk about this on Fox News.
Exactly. And there is also an intensity underlying this issue. A lot of voters may have an opinion on Social Security reform, or gay marriage, but the issue hasn't impacted their lives directly.
There are millions of middle class Americans who have felt as if they had to sell their home because their neighborhoods and school districts were being overrun by illegals. And now have to commute 50-70 miles to work every day. They see illegals standing on the streetcorners, and committing crime on the evening news. They watch their local taxes increase every year, as illegals enter the public schools and hospitals. And then watched these higher taxes push employers and businesses to other states.
We can't afford to underestimate the intensity of this issue in the border states.
I will withold my praise and adulation for Hillary, until I hear her position on the rights of those little Americans,to escape their Mother's womb alive.
That B'atch really could care less about immigration. If it produces more democratic votes she will open the gates wider. There is a common phrase that reminds me of shrillary, "Talking loud and saying Nothing." I never thought that a majority of New Yorkers would be so blind as to elect her as a senator. I pray that God will ensure that this 'B'atch goes straight to hell and not receive a get out of hell card. Troops on the borders will curtail much of the illegal immigration. Blakely is probably one of the idiots' who thought klintoon was going to give that middle-class tax cut when first elected. Slick talked a good game and reneged shrillary will do the same. I worry more about those legal aliens entering our country. How many of the 9/11 terrorists entered the USA illegaly? I am not being sarcastic, just wondering? You do have an extremely valid point and with freepers calling in their house and senate reps we can do something about this matter. It's a great day to be alive and American. NSNR
I shudder at the thought.
Blakely = Blankely
Thanks. Great read.
"...She is inevitable as a candidate, but not as a president. There will be serious drawbacks and problems with her candidacy. When she speaks in a large hall she shouts and it is shrill; she sounds like some boomer wife from hell who's unpacking the grocery bags and telling you that you forgot not just the mayo but the mustard..."
90% of our elected representatives, that's who. That's why they pressured the Justice Department to stop prosecuting employers who hire illegals.
The Rodham-Clinton/Tancredo in '08 movement starts here.
Yeah, this is fertile soil indeed for a charismatic independent candidate to run on a strong anti-outsourcing, pro-border security platform. And just as Perot helped Bill secure a win in '92, this candidate could very well similarly help Hill in '08.
Remember Bush and Cheney are never going to run again.
The Republican nominee for President can play the same game as Hillary. And it is an easier game to play if the democrats(socialists) want to close the borders also. I would bet more rank and file Republicans would want immigration stopped than rank and file democrats(socialists).
If both parties take a stand against illegal immigration, IMHO it would cost the Republicans less votes than it would cost the democrats. - tom
I care not what Hillary says or does. She's never getting my vote. Any fool that would vote for her - Dem or Rep. - is asking for Hell on Earth.
A vote for one Democrat is a vote for all. Do not do it. Ever.
I was actually talking about another dem cantidate that might get the nod. Nonetheless I agree that we have much to fear from a true conservative running as a third party. I would not be a bit suprised to see hellary elected in the same way bill was.
Gotta give you a high-five on that one.
