Nope. First of all, the guy with the phone should have been more courteous, I fully agree. And, after the older gentleman asked him to stop, he should have gone outside for the rest of the conversation or, at worst, politely told him no. However, if it had been me that the gentleman physically accosted by going after the phone, he would have at least had to pick himself up off the floor. Trying to take the phone away from him crossed the boundaries.

Now you don't know whether you could have bested the older man, do you Bluebell? Perhaps the older man might have taught you that at his age, he hasn't much left to lose. LOL!
