I don't usually post vanities, but my blood is boiling over this.
My husband told me about a "Christmas" special which was airing on Bravo network tonight @ 8 pm (EST). It was supposed to be a nostalgic look back at past Christmas specials on TV, (I thought).
Actually, what it turned out to be was one huge bash of those specials.
It was like Christmas confidential.
Rather than focusing on the programs themselves, and the fun they were, this was about what was actually going on behind the scenes, from Bing Crosby abusing his children, to Judy Garland's troubles and Andy William's marital problems. They had people commenting about these things in between tapes of the shows. They even made fun of the fact that Bob Hope was "never home" during Christmas, (he was entertaining troops around the globe). And naturally they just had to mention that the women who appeared with him all had to have huge breasts.
I have never heard of most of the people who spoke, except for Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman) which should tell you a lot.
The one positive was Pat Boone, who explained he always sang the old carols because to him Christmas was about the birth of Christ
They then went on to tell the "real" story behind the animated Christmas shows.
The only positive thing about them was how successful ($$) some of them were.
Then they came to the segment where the holiday "escaped" it's religious aspect and turned to a winter celebration, with snow and bells and sleighs.
That was enough for me.
BTW, during this garbage Bravo saw fit to announce one of the new programs coming up on their station.
Queer eye for the straight girl.
As far as I'm concerned the only straight I have in mind is that Bravo can go straight to HE##
You expect what from television?
Not much, but this really got to me.
The same Bravo that brings us Queer Eye for the Straight Guy among many other in your face liberal agenda programs? Now why would anyone expect anything else from this group?
I remember years ago when it first started I could occasionally catch an opera or other worthwhile cultural program, but since the gay liberals hijacked the channel I never watch it.
I don't watch much TV, so I'm not wise as to what they generally televise, but you can bet that's the last time I'll ever watch anything from Bravo!
Don't you know Bravo is the network that shows Queer Eye and reruns of The West Wing? That alone should tell you all you need to know. Finally it is also home to THE WORLD'S GREATEST GAS BAG - James Lipton!
I think Bravo is run by NBC.
I've never watched anything on Bravo; all of their shows sound pretty alien. But thanks for warning us about this "Christmas Special". The title sure sounds innocent enough; you'd think it would have been an uplifting celebration of the meaning of Christmas.
If you have a "parental control" device of some kind which you have to enter a code to access a blocked out channel(s), then pull up the option screen where you enter the parental code to block out the channel, close your eyes and punch in some numbers at random. Then email the station and tell them you can no longer watch their channel because you find it offensive. Plus you don`t know the code you punched in so you can`t change your mind.
I have several stations blocked out on my cable box. All MTV and VH1 channels, Bravo , Oxygen , E ! , Style , WE , and BET .
At one time or another something was on one of these that ticked me off and that was that.
You can also block out specific programs on most of these devices.
A Christmas special on past Christmas specials. Who knew they were going to distort it the way they did?
I am now madder but wiser.
And the liberals say the conservatives control cable news. HA!
Why did you watch past the first five minutes?
I'm a conservative and I control the cable news. Broadcast news, too. It's diabolically simple: I don't allow broadcast, cable, or satellite into my home. Four years and counting, with five small kids in our family, and we don't miss it a bit. If we want a tube fix, we'll watch DVD's or videos.
Despite Bravo and ACLU and all that are so offended by the mere mention of the happiest greetings of all...Merry Christmas! Celebrate and make very merry!
I think I was in shock.
Thank you and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I saw it and half way through the program I tuned out!! Am I upset?...NO WAY... BRAVO is a lib loving queer station, what do you expect from those A$$Holes?!!
You know better, though.....Bravo is notorious for its ultra-left bent. Gay=good, everything else=bad. Not worth watching on their best day.
Kat.....that's why your cable provider has 500+ channels. :)
I like your style. :)
FOX has been announcing for a couple of days that they are putting on a special - hosted by Jon Scott. Just from the clips I saw, it appears to be factual. I guess we'll find out.
