A day in the life of President Bush (photos) 12/14/04

TODAY'S HIGHLIGHT: GWB awarded the nation's highest civilian honor -- the Presidential Medal of Freedom -- Ambassador L. Paul "Jerry" Bremer, former CIA Director George Tenet, and retired U.S. Army General Tommy Franks.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: General Tommy Franks was raised in Midland, Texas -- nothing wrong with that. (Laughter.) I didn't know him then, but Laura and he went to the same high school. In those days, some people in Midland wondered about Tommy's future. It sounds familiar. (Laughter.) At a recent high school reunion, Tommy's old principal told the General, "You weren't the brightest bulb in the socket," to which the General replied, "Ain't this a great country?" (Laughter.) -- President George W. Bush, Presidential Medal of Freedom Ceremony, 12/14/04

It mostly sells food. They also have a small section with flowers and there's magazines at the front but mostly food.

You might want to wait and see if your friend calms down

The odd thing is after her dozen or so lines of nastiness, she then started a new paragraph and proceeded to make pleasant chit chat.

I couldn't even read it.

I hate to sound cold, but it's been years since I've had contact with her and her telling me she respects my opinion and then not even waiting until I reply to say all that stuff to me just turned me off completely.

If there was to be a renewal of a friendship it would have had to be rebuilt, and at this point I'm flat not interested.

Oh, I forgot to add that I hope you and your friend can work past your differences. Maybe the two of you could agree to avoid the topic of politics altogether and concentrate instead on what you have in common.

Sometimes people go different ways.... *shrug*.... Happened to me and my "best" friend several years ago. Not for political reasons, but lifestyle differences. I figure there's lots of people in the world to befriend, and my conscience is clear. I did the best I could to keep her friendship. In the end it was her decision.

Oh, I'm having W flashbacks!
His eyes are deep blue and so intense. When he looks at you, he REALLY looks at you like you're the only one in the room (Laura is lucky!).
He had pretty fluffy hair that day, it hadn't been cut in a while. He was sweating (we were in a gym in the summer) and it sounds weird but he smelled SO GOOD!
He was wearing a suit with the jacket off. Nice Brooks Brothers shirt. I was sitting with the press (and got hit on by the CNN producer, YUCK!) so we had a great view.
Anything else?

*It is very much overrated; it looks lovely on a Christmas card or in a picture*

Thanks Snugs for sharing that. I was talking to my
2nd cousin from New Jersey and now lives near Cincinnati,Ohio and she thinks it is not Christmas unless
it snows. They have had some light snow.
Her dau. and husband moved to Flordia a few yrs. ago from
New Jersey and she had to go back to New Jersey to visit
her sister and get a winter fix this past week.

Both of my best friends ended up being liberals. Rachel, however, (who also is Green Party) is EXTREMELY anti-Bush. She's the one who blocked me from sending her e-mails. Alisha is a little more moderate but she's still pretty anti-Bush and really liberal. But she's been a LOT more open-minded about discussing politics so long as we both understand that we're not going to bash anyone's point of view.

I think certain friends go out of our lives in order for us to learn something about ourselves or to clear the way for someone we need.
Sounds kinda strange but I've found it to be true in my long 24 years on this planet! :-)

My favorite friends are the ones who challenge me and make me defend myself but still are loving people.

The drug store has a pharmacy and all kinds of over-the-counter (non-prescription) meds like cough syrup and aspirin. They also sell candy and toiletries.
Of course, the ones by me are HUGE and also sell clothes, rent DVD's and just about anything else you can imagine!
We don't need grocery stores with all of the drug stores.

I can understand that. Some people, I think, may never get over President Bush's re-election. They just want to keep blaming the rest of us for being blind. And it's very possible that those people just aren't ever going to be willing to see a different point of view.

Yeah, we kinda tried that already. That's what I thought we were doing when she sent me the article. And it really bothers me that she said she just wanted to know where I stood and when I told her, she argued with me and got mad at me. I think the problem may be that she's not willing to be friends with someone who supports President Bush, even if we're not talking about politics.

Hearing your problems with so called friends make me glad for once (only once mind you) that we have so much political apathy in Britain. I cannot envisage your situation here people are just not that interested or passionate about politics.

What color shirt? Does his voice sound the same in person as it does on TV? Did you remember to breathe?

So the drug store is the same as our chemist somehow I got the impressions from American TV programmes that it was different.

Thankfully it's just a handful of friends in my case.
Most of my pals supported Bush because I told them to and they didn't want to get preached at! :0)
But they weren't that passionate about politics.

I have never seen snow in my life.

...oh, my...you have never seen the beauty of the first quiet snowfall...where the sky lights up softly as the flakes accumulate...where people come out at 10 p.m....11 p.m. to give their dogs a joyous romp in the immaculate whiteness. You have never heard the hush that muffles and the squeak of boots on the fluff. The kids even get to stay up late and build a snowman in the middle of the street before the snowplow gets to it. You have never felt the softness of a first snow on your eyelashes.

...but, then again...you have also never had to deal with February.... ;)

That's right, they're like the chemist.
I went into a few of those in London and it was just like being at home.
