TODAY'S HIGHLIGHT: GWB awarded the nation's highest civilian honor -- the Presidential Medal of Freedom -- Ambassador L. Paul "Jerry" Bremer, former CIA Director George Tenet, and retired U.S. Army General Tommy Franks.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: General Tommy Franks was raised in Midland, Texas -- nothing wrong with that. (Laughter.) I didn't know him then, but Laura and he went to the same high school. In those days, some people in Midland wondered about Tommy's future. It sounds familiar. (Laughter.) At a recent high school reunion, Tommy's old principal told the General, "You weren't the brightest bulb in the socket," to which the General replied, "Ain't this a great country?" (Laughter.) -- President George W. Bush, Presidential Medal of Freedom Ceremony, 12/14/04
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island.
THANKS so much for the magazine alert! I've been hoping for some . . . seems awhile since they've been featured. Although I think they should be featured every month--LOL!
Seems like when the twins were in Vogue it took a llloonnnggg time to get on the newsstands, but that could be because I was looking forward to it so much. Any idea who is on the cover? I'll look for it tomorrow.
Nice to "see" you here! HOpe you've been well.
Nope, they're duller than the dullest knife. The Dems are SOOOOOO serious about their hand-wringing. All their think tanks and academic sycophants are in high gear churning out conferences, position papers, round tables, retreats, slide shows and the like, all to say esentially this: George Bush. Bad. Bad, bad, baaaaad. We wuze robbed. If only the American peeepule could know what's in our hearts. Values?! We have values. Kerry ran a baaaad race. Yada, yada, yada.
Worst bunch of sour navel gazers I ever did see.
**W looked great today**
You're silly :) He ALWAYS looks great. Especially in jeans or cowboy hat or boots or a tux or a suit....
Wind drives me nuts! We didin't put anything up outside, but the trees near our house are old enough that I worry . . . plus there's a HUMOUGOUS old tree growing thru our deck, with branches--big ones!--over the whole house. Like I said, makes me nervous. But only for two more months!
:-)
I had a lot of trouble with my tonsils and finally had them removed in Manchester...now I know why I was given so much of Lucozade...LOL
I do believe that we are birds of a feather.
I'd say he looked good on his worst day!
I am so sorry about your friend, don't feel guilty about not being in touch much recently you have been doing great work. How are your Christmas preparations going keep cheerful will pray for you.
Remember how on the weekend, we were all stewing about how white his hair seemed? (Well, all except Barney.) In many of these photos, it looks darker. I'm sure it's just an artifiact of the lighting.
Snicker...
Yep :) I came in with my application and the manager started saying how she could send it off and I could start Thursday and I was like, "Wait, I'm hired?" I'm glad I didn't have to answer any stupid "Why do you want to work here?" kind of questions. I always wanna say "Cuz I need money!"
BUT, he looks awfully tired and old looking in the second picture. (And that pic makes him look more and more like his mama everyday.)
God bless him and may he keep us safe.
What will your duties be?
I appreciate your prayers, this has been a tough time.
We did our tree up in red, white and blue with yellow ribbons. It's great! I've sent pics of it to my troops and they love it.
The project is absolutely exploding, a local retailer was even advertising our efforts on the radio today! I didn't expect to hear it, I was just floored!
That helps heal the pain when I lose one of them at least.
I live less than 4 miles, as the crow flies, from the Pacific. And although I live in the L.A. basin, on a clear day I can, indeed, see the mountains. I'm fond of saying that I wouldn't mind moving as long as the Pacific can come with me. The Pacific and I have a long-standing love affair going.
Definitely! Maybe it's the blue eyes...or the hair...or the body...
The made for TV movie DC 9/11: Time of Crisis (with Timothy Bottoms as President Bush and Penny Johnson as Condaleezza Rice) is now available at Amazon on DVD.
If the actors came across somewhat as charicatures of the real people, the timeline and the facts and the things said and done were very accurate and it is thus compelling viewing.
Tenet's role in planning the Afghan Operation Enduring Freedom is delineated as you have said.
Here in my corner NC it is 31 with 15 mph winds. That makes it feel like 20. At least it is dry.
God Bless you Phancy and the great work you are doing
Or in the dark, like on Holloween when he was up on a dark stage with pumpkins.
