HOUSTON (AP) - Andrea Yates' murder convictions for drowning her children should be overturned because the state's expert witness gave false testimony about working on an episode of "Law and Order," her attorneys told a state appeals court Tuesday.
Yates was sentenced to life in prison in the 2001 deaths of three of her children after jurors rejected her insanity defense. She was not tried in the deaths of the other two.
Psychiatrists testified that Yates suffered from schizophrenia and postpartum depression.
Her attorneys told a three-judge panel of the state's First Court of Appeals that she deserves a new trial because of 19 errors that were committed in her 2002 trial.

Yup, eligible for parole after 40 yrs due to the multiple counts.
The State/Criminal justice system needs to send a message to society as a whole that killing one's children cannot be tolerated - that killing our nation's future cannot stand under any circumstances.
She was not an innocent bystander...she was perfectly aware of her depression and had many others around her besides the foolish husband to help her. If anyone deserves death it is she. I am willing to let God in His infinite wisdom sort out the rest.
