I would be very, very happy to know what tribe my greatgrandmother belonged to. All we know is that she was part of a white family in my hometown. She could very well be Chickasaw, Choctaw or any other tribe which was in the Chickasaw County area of MS in the mid to late 1800's. One of my cousin's wife has taken her photo all over the country trying to find out the tribe. We do know that the family was offered land in Indian Territory or Oklahoma way back then. She seems to be a brick wall for us.

That would seem to point to Choctaw or Cherokee, That bit of info should be enough to track down the offer through the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The bureaucracy is good a keeping documents......

I am descended from horse thieves and bootleggers from the Bekaa Valley in what is now Lebanon. I do not know what tribe I came from, but I do know that my great-grandmother felt the oppression of the Ottoman Turks (TROP) against Orthodox Christians and did something about it. She left and came to America. I may visit the land of my tribe some time, but I am forever grateful to ggrandma for my life in this country.
