Saw enough "Costco" Topics here, figured there would be some interest: Received this from Chad Baus of OFCC yesterday:
The following was sent to OFCC - writer isn't a CCW-Talker, but said I could post this sans his name:
Date: Fri, 10 Dec 2004 13:27:56 -0500 Subject: Costco To: info@ofcc.net
Hello,
Costco as a CPZ yesterday. I also e-mailed them to find out why. I am forwarding their response.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

It would be GREAT if anyone in a state OTHER THAN Ohio, would stop by the Costco nearest you next time you are in the area. See if they have a sign. If yes OR no post it here, or e-mail me at:kkacer@catlover.com with the address sate and your zip code (I can find the store zip that way and makes it easier for you).
And if anyone would care to let Costco know what you think: Member Services: 800-774-2678
Web address: http://www.costco.com
Costco's corporate mailing address is: PO Box 34331 Seattle, WA 98124
Costco's corporate offices are located at: 999 Lake Drive Issaquah, WA 98027
Have at.
No, it's their property. Is this a trick question?
Unless I draw my weapon, there is noway you, or store personnel, even knows it's there.
This isn't civil disobedience. This is destroying private property that does not belong to you.
If you are OK with that, then you should be perfectly OK with the storeowner firebombing your house in the middle of the night in retaliation.
You know that when these eco-nazis are nabbed (if ever) they are treated as celebrities and get barely a wrist slap. Let a right-winger stand up for what he believes and he's the reincarnation of Hitler.
And now the Clintonian "everyone else does it" defense.
You are most assuredly not a conservative.
These gun banning policies are stupid. Period.
Your argument in a nutshell: "Private property rights are stupid. Period."
What property rights you are willing to refuse others, you cannot honestly claim for yourself.
You don't seem to have any problem disrespecting my right to self defense. You don't seem to understand that if every private business owner were allowed to, and did, post stupid gun ban signs, then your right to self defense would not exist--anywhere.
But then maybe that's not such a bad idea. Darwin's law would soon reduce the population to Outlaws and Scofflaws. All you wimpy sign obeyers would soon be dead. I'm OK with that because this Scofflaw is a better shot than the Outlaws.
Does Costco guarantee my security, both in the store and in the parking lot? No, of course not.
I have carried many time while shopping, and will again. You, and others, are safer for it, and would never know it, unless something went down.
How many more Hitler/Nazis references will we have to endure on this thread before the magic of capitalism seeps in and convinces you to shop elsewhere? That's what, 8, 9 references so far?
No kidding. This person took safety and competency courses to carry a concealed firearm but won't spend a half hour leaning basic HTML? Odd that.
But there's only one Freeping site........ Hohohoho...
FRegards,
I wanted to wear my camo to the football game on Sunday, but I couldn't find them.
I've tried everything to get out of them. Nothing works.
Tell me about Brother....
Oh well, as I always say, "It's just part of the deal"

You STILL don't get it. Putting up a sign doesn't ban anything. Metal detectors, coupled with sound procedure, prevent guns from getting into a particular place.
Isn't shooting someone in a retail store against the law whether there is a sign "banning" guns or not? What good did the damn sign do? The poor schmuck who trusted that sign is still dead. The perp would be prosecuted whether there was a gun "banning" sign or not.
The statistical probability of someone being shot in a gun "banning" store are actually somewhat higher after the "banning" sign is posted than they were before.
Now go spend the next 60 days scouring the internet trying to find a study proving otherwise.
I was father of the Bride in Sep 03. Then groom in Mar 04, (second marriage). I tried to get out of both of those.
Idiot. Nothing is being destroyed by my carrying a concealed weapon into that store. Your argument is ludicrous.
I still preserve my first amendment rights if I enter onto the property of another and speak respectfully, cordially and politely. If I start yelling "You stupid mother*@#*@#, you ought to be flogged and your chidlren #$%&**!..." I should expect to be immediately tossed from and forever banned from that property.
If I enter into a gun "banning" store carrying my weapon and never display it or fire it I haven't hurt anyone, and both the store's rights and mine have been protected. Your assertions to the contraty notwithstanding. If, God forbid, I have to pull that gun to defend myself or someone else in that store, I have served a better purpose than standing idly by while an "Outlaw" disobeyed a damn sign.
Your argument in a nutshell: "Private property rights are stupid. Period."
Wrong again. My argument in a Nutshell: "Stupid private property policies are STUPID."
For the same reason we treat sexual orientation differently from race: one is a voluntary activity, the other is an innate characteristic.
Congrats' to the Father of the Bride! Good luck to you as Groom!

p.s. I may have to borrow your tag line....
I created that tagline for forays into Gen X chest beating threads.
Yep! I saw some of those threads!! Agreed w/ you on all issues...
Smoking and drinking aren't mentioned in the constitution
