Does Costco have the right to control access to their property?

I'm not sure how that works. Costco is private property, maybe they have the right to demand no weapons be brought inside?

Don't know, just asking. I'm from Ca. The most ridiculous state in the nation about this, so Need info.

Of course, but we have the right to defend ourselves, AND the right to find another place to shop.

I understand your feelings but I also believe that a business owner should be able to ban smoking, drinking, concealed weapons, dress code, etc.. on their property.

BTW. I smoke, drink, carry, and dress crappy.

Can't offer any input here. I'm from NJ. Only legal way to carry a gun is to dismantle it into parts and store the pieces separately in the trunk and glove compartment. :P

"Does Costco have the right to control access to their property?"

Sure, and gun owners have the right to patronize other establishments as well. If they want to create self-defense-free zones, gun owners should shop somewhere else.

Well, there are three freedoms operating here:

1. Costco, as a private enterprise, has every right in the world to ban firearms from their premises.

2. As a consumer and citizen, you have every right to refuse to shop at Costco and to advise others not to shop there.

3. Every person has the right to either avoid Costco, or to shop there, as he/she chooses.

Yes they do, and I have the choice to not give them my business.

"Sorry, every freakin' site is different. ;)"

And how does that affect your not bothering to format this properly on THIS site? Did you not look at the preview when you posted? If you did, why did you not correct the formatting? It would have taken just a few minutes.

Sorry, but if you're blasting around posting this message on various sites, you ought to at least take the time to make it presentable. Otherwise, your quest is in vain.

Does Costco have the right to control access to their property?

Yes, they do have a right to control who enters their property. That having been said, neither you nor I have any obligation to obey that request. Unless the signs they post have metal detectors in them they have no enforcement.

I recently joined our local Costco, despite knowing it is owned by a rabid-dog demonrat. If our store posts such sign I will immediately apply for a concealed carry permit after having procrastinated for far too many months, and enter the store and defy those signs to detect my concealed weapon.

Kind of like the idea of civil disobedience. That's something the crazed demonrat owner of Costco should understand.

I'm good with my handguns too. It is hard to conceal a bow.
