HARRISBURG, Pa. — The state American Civil Liberties Union (search) plans to file a federal lawsuit Tuesday against a Pennsylvania school district that is requiring students to learn about alternatives to the theory of evolution (search).

The ACLU said its lawsuit will be the first to challenge whether public schools should teach "intelligent design," which holds that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by some higher power....

Like I said repeatedly, I don't need to or visit cartoon websites.

There aren't that many possible sources for your post, and it's not as if you've given any other one. One certainly doesn't find such nonsense in science texts or articles.

Well, then yall should be fighting the ACLU and opposing removing God from our schools.

Except that in this case the ACLU is right. Stopped clock, twice a day and all that.

Found a hit for one incident in Sweeden. Abhorrent, to be sure, but not itself a continent-wide phenomenon.. Got any more than that?

Why was Newton a crappy theologian? ... Was it because all theologians are crappy ... or are you saying he was a crappy theologian because he was famous for the Calculus?

Lucius Annaeus Seneca lived before or near the time of Chirst. So he must have been refering to the Roman pagan Gods borrowed from the Greeks.

I perfer "If God did not exit mankind would be need to invent Him". ... Voltaire

What kind of world would it be if your proposed action were accepted as a principle?

What's missing here is an understanding that people are different, whether because of genes or upbringing. Some people are naturally compassionate and others have no conscience. I worry about those who would behave without God standing over their shoulder. They can always find something in the Bible or in the Koran to justify whatever they want to do.

Just as naturally kind and compassionate people can find something to justify their actions.

I can't stand the ACLU. But every now and then, probably as a fig leaf, they represent the good guys. Here are some links to what they're up to in the litigation which is the subject of this thread:
Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School Board FAQ – Intelligent Design and Evolution . Pretty good general summary.
Copy of the Complaint they filed. It's a pdf file.

Sure he can, he can do whatever he likes. This is America, isn't it?

But, my dear friend, physical properties being constant is a guess as you were not physically present to observe with your own eyes the action you claim to have happened. You are making an assumption based on your understanding of the science you have studied and your belief of the universe. That assumption is what you feel for yourself to be correct, and for you, even an absolute. Other people choose to have differing assumptions about what is correct based on their understanding of the universe, and do not assume that science is an absolute.

Take the time and read the posts, I'm not misrepresenting any numbers. But, with the exception of your opinion of the age of the Earth and universe, I actually agree with the rest of your post. Surprise! Surprise!

A: Why was Newton a crappy theologian?
Despite all the effort, he didn't exactly set the world of theology afire.

B Was it because all theologians are crappy
No. Peter Ablelard, Thomas Aquinus, Erasmus

C: or are you saying he was a crappy theologian because he was famous for the Calculus?
Yes. It's surprising (or perhaps not) how infrequently "Isaac Newton" is included to B above: Name three important second millenium theologians.

They are as valid a belief system as evolution, choose your poison.

I am going to guess your concept of evolution includes lizards morphing into fish and apes successfully mating with humans.

The "Creatinoid Theory of Evolution" (CToE) is most assuredly a "belief system".

Fortunately for science the real ToE is firmly based on 150 years of evidence.
