Through the looking glass (Climate Change)
CFP ^ | December 13, 2004 | Henry Lamb

It’s easy to ignore the climate change meeting that is now underway in Buenos Aires. The vast majority of Americans are not even aware of the meeting. Even fewer know what is happening there. And even fewer care.

Americans should care; America is the primary target.

This 10th annual Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change - a voluntary treaty which the United States has ratified - celebrates the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol - which the United States has not ratified. The Kyoto Protocol effectively converts the voluntary treaty into legally binding international law. The United States and Australia are the only developed nations that have not ratified the Protocol, and are, therefore, targets for the wrath and ridicule of the rest of the world.

Like a magnet, the U.N. meeting draws powerful bureaucrats from the governments of nearly 200 nations, along with the decision makers in virtually every intergovernmental, and international environmental organization. When they walk through the doors of the conference center, it’s like walking through the looking glass into another world - where reality, science, and facts, have been transformed into the gigantic work of global warming fiction they have constructed. . . . .

Super BUMP. This has to be the scariest article I have read this year! Some excerpts:

- The heat wave in Europe last year was America’s fault. The floods in China were America’s fault. Every snowstorm, drought, hurricane or tornado - is now America’s fault, and now the world expects America to pay whatever damages these people claim.

- In more practical terms, the United States is a party to dozens of environmental treaties - all of which are now tied to the climate change treaty, including the Kyoto Protocol. Consider for example, U.S. import of foreign resources. Treaty provisions require an export permit from an exporting country. In many countries, these permits are handled by an NGO in partnership with local government. The terms - including the price - of these permits can easily be adjusted to force payment by U.S. firms to compensate for the “mitigation and adaption” expenses the exporting country thinks may be due to them.

- There is no end to the ways governments, and inter-governmental organizations can extract payments from the United States. Whether in direct fees and levies, or through more indirect schemes, the money will come from the pockets of American consumers and taxpayers.

This article makes crystalizes what I have thought for some time. Global Warming is BS. It is merely the boggie-man brainchild of liberal think tanks, executed by UN bureaucrats, aimed at a massive transfer of wealth to the Third World. And guess who will be more than happy to take their percentage? The Globalist lobby (led by the likes of Kofi and Kojo Annan), whose only real job is jetting their fat asses between international conferences. This scheme is on such a grand scale, it makes the Oil-for-Food and Tobacco Settlement scams look like Carny shell-games in comparison. The American education system aids and abets this fraud by indoctrinating our kids with Global Warming propaganda, so they'll glady swallow the massive tax burden when they're older.

In a perverse way, a thinking person has to admire the how ambitious and well thought out this particular scam is. Indeed, this is the BIG LIE of our generation!

Whew--that was quite a rant (even for me).

Scary is right. I assume we could cut the knees out from under Kyoto by killing the U.N....another good reason to close that fine institution.

Global warming is NOT bs. It is a reality. BUT, it is a naturally occuring cyclical variation. It is NOT caused by humans, or as this group would have us believe, the humans in the US. The mean temperature of Earth has risen and lowered over eons. Visit middle Pennsylvania sometime, to a place called Hawk Mountain. At the bottom of the valley is a place called "The Rocks" I think. It is a collection of very large boulders that were brought and left by the retreating glaciers. Yes, glaciers, in middle PA. This happened before man. Let these enviro-wackos 'splain this. How about South Dakota and Utah being ocean bottom? Oh no, the ocean retreated!!!! The only BS here is these bozos blaming global warming on humans.

The big picture reveals the world ganging up on the U.S. via the environment, since we can't be defeated any other way. Russia and China are more than happy to pile on.

It will soon be necessary to seriously throw some weight around. If the world thinks we bully others, just friggin' wait. We'll see the collapse of the UN, for starters.

The world can't imagine our rage. It's one thing if we were in fact polluting the world, but we're actually cleaning it up. Others should follow.

This is a money grab, via the environment, capitilizing on our supposed collective guilt of riches.

These bastards have a surprise coming.

Let's begin to count the ways we can respond.
1) start with end of ALL foreign aid.

Don't count your chickens. Nothing will happen in the next 4 years, but the next president may be more willing to go along to get along. That next pres may be Hillary Vagabond Clinton. She is moving to the right as we speak. Look at her statements on illegal immigration over the past few weeks. She is to the right of Bush. Do you think for one minute, if she and Bill are in the White house again, they will oppose the UN? By that time, Bill may be the leader of the UN. Imagine that! Bill as secretary general of the UN and Hillary as POTUS. THAT is your worst nightmare. Don't discount that scenario.

What a scenario ! However, current by-laws prevent Sec. General coming from a country with a permanent seat on security council. Of course, ignoring the rules would be no problem for either.

Like you said about rules. The UN sure followed the rules in the Scam for Food project didn't they. And to quote old Al Gore, "There is no controlling legal authority" at the UN other than the Secretary General. Do you trust Kofi?

I agree that the Earth's climate undergoes periodic change (actually, I don't see how anyone can disagree). Despite what some Liberals seem to believe, we are not guaranteed to have a stable climate. However, I am not convinced such changes are necessarily occuring now to a significant degree. Why? Because I have not seen the scientific evidence to back it up. Many of the reports that "prove" global warming is happening, actually say the opposite when you get into the details (the devil is always in the details). If shown the evidence, I have a sufficiently open mind to accept it. The problem is that I have no seen such evidence--only Leftist propaganda.
