The fact that the NYPL is making money from this grossly misguided, horribly influential man who celebrated hatred is especially ironic because it is Communism-celebrating libraries like the NYPL that are helping keep Cubans under tyranny, as Paul Berman recently wrote in Slate: The modern-day cult of Che blinds us not just to the past but also to the present. Right now a tremendous social struggle is taking place in Cuba. Dissident liberals have demanded fundamental human rights, and the dictatorship has rounded up all but one or two of the dissident leaders and sentenced them to many years in prison. Among those imprisoned leaders is an important Cuban poet and journalist, Raúl Rivero, who is serving a 20-year sentence. In the last couple of years the dissident movement has sprung up in yet another form in Cuba, as a campaign to establish independent libraries, free of state control; and state repression has fallen on this campaign, too.
These Cuban events have attracted the attention of a number of intellectuals and liberals around the world. Václav Havel has organized a campaign of solidarity with the Cuban dissidents and, together with Elena Bonner and other heroic liberals from the old Soviet bloc, has rushed to support the Cuban librarians. A group of American librarians has extended its solidarity to its Cuban colleagues, but, in order to do so, the American librarians have had to put up a fight within their own librarians' organization, where the Castro dictatorship still has a number of sympathizers.
Ive written about the ALA before here and here. It is quite apparent that the ALA is nothing but a collection of snivelling apologists for marxists murderers.
I cant imagine that these fine folks at the NYPL dont know there are people who may have fathers or brothers or uncles or grandfathers that were killed by the hand of Che Guevara himself. What would they say to them? How would they justify making a buck by using the image of the very same man that killed thier family members?
This is an OUTRAGE and I have had it with these accomplices to murderers.
I urge each and every one of you to call the NYPL's Sara Abraham, director of retail marketing, at (212) 930-0591 or Paul LeClerc president & CEO, at (212) 930-0736 or email them at libraryshop@nypl.org and let them know that this will not be tolerated in silence.
Make your voices heard. Speak for those who were silenced by the hatred and evil of Che Guevara.
Celebrating Che is all the rage...he was quite the fella...they say.
For what it's worth! In public schools in Mexico, States of Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas, the icon images in most classroms most easily recognized by students is NOT The Pope, Bolivar, Hidalgo, The Virgen, Benito Juarez, Madonna or Emiliano Zapata...it is DE Che Guevarra, Argentine Medical Student who passions are still alive.
Hmmm... Since the Left has all those "Che" shirts, with that famous image of him, I propose we make a line of "Pinochet" items...
Could be fun ;0)
Che stuff is sold all over the place. If you don't like Che, don't buy the merchandise. It's that simple.
Haven't you heard Hanoi Kerry is probably behind this.
Kerry is/was an illegal candidate per
US Constitution 14th Amendment Section 3

Read a book by Felix Rodriguez. Its called Shadow Warrior: (something something something).
Hell tell you all about Che. What a dope he was, etc. How he was so tough that he shaved off his facial hair because the Bolivians had put a bounty on his head and he didnt want the Bolivian Indians to cut his head off.
[I still get a laugh out of that one evidently it is a big Mr. Macho thing for them to have (and keep) facial hair. Meanwhile Mr. Tough shaved himself as smooth as a pre-pubescent girl sos he wouldnt get hurt. Ha. I like it when dopes buy his stuff. Its fitting.]
But being sold in a PUBLIC LIBRARY by PUBLIC OFFICIALS?
It's quite ironic that the image of a communist is such a capitalist success.

and of course...

Moral of the story? Never underestimate to power of a good photographer...and PR.
I like that last one... I'm thinking of creating a line of Anti-Left shirts. Ya know, the PInochet ones, and maybe some "School of the Americas" ones etc...
Pretty much anything that is a hot button for the Left, my shirts would cover heh heh heh
The NYPL does my profession proud yet again. End sarcasm.
