No amount of outside criticism could damage Maureen Dowd like this childish piece of profound embarrassment.
There is just nothing I can add to this, other than my expression of amazement. No matter the level of puerile trash I've seen from her before, this one descends to new depths. Has she no friends at the Times who could have charitably rejected this piece?

I don't subscribe to anything that is interested in my income and the type of work I do. Uh, you just lie about all that. I don't think it's really a major sin.

She's really bitter...it's kinda sad. Was it her last column where she said she didn't like Christmas because it reminded her of all the money she spent on old boyfriends who were now married. YIKES!!!!

"Why the NYT doesn't replace her with someone smarter, funnier and cheaper is beyond me."
Again why should they. Maybe the NY Slimes thinks she is the smartest and funniest and worthy of what she makes.

She'll never make it to 2008.

I am sincerely surprised the Times hasn't canned Maureen Dowd by now. I know, I know, the Times agrees with her most of the time. But her columns are so juvenile that her editors should know that Down is doing no favors for the liberals' causes. (Actually, now that I think about it, I hope Maureen Dowd writes for the times forever.)

It doesn't look like it's singable to the original tune. The syllables and lines don't match up. A really good parody deserves some consideration, even among those who may disagree with its message, but this isn't one. Dowd is a bit like the kid who didn't heed a "Don't try this at home or you may hurt yourself" warning and ended up with a charley horse or a missing digit.
The big question is whether she'll last out next year (or this). If the Times had anyone ready to replace her, she won't be around for long. But maybe there's a little method to her madness: she doesn't have to write well to stay on, she just has to write more distinctively than any challenger, so monstrous badness may actually help her to keep her column.

She's 52 and probably just finding out that she is and probably will be single forever, with no family, no husband, no kids. Proving that the feminists LIED to her about what was important.
She is now bitter, jealous and angry.

Well that is a good alter-ego and would attract interest on a dating website too, but I also worry that the liberal death star gets to count me as a visitor. I am satisfied with waiting for somebody to post the salient information.

Dowd's going to hit 53 on January 14th. She's so undesirable, even the crackhead Sorkin dumped her.

Even liberals should have SOME standards. That's the great thing about being a liberal. You never have to worry about disappointing anyone. If you have NO standards, you can't be accused of not living UP to them.

I am assuming that is her in both pictures...and she sure doesn't look anywhere near 53.
I know they can do a lot with photos, but she must look pretty good to turn out like that.
I know she is somewhat warped, but I kinda feel sorry for her. It must be awful to feel the way she feels.

No... The picture is of Catherine Zeta Jones, for whom Michael Douglas dumped Ms. Dowd.
Maureen Dowd is actually fairly attractive, and was very attractive when she was younger.

Unfortunately, from her writing one can imagine a scatter-brained, chatty and rather frivolous character -- an exhausting personality type that would render her less and less attractive as one gets to know her better. She has seemed more and more bitter over the past few years, and the outcome of this last election seems to have unhinged her.
