It's amazing France didn't just surrender after threats to block French stations in Lebanon and the Arab world. Still, I applaud France for standing up to anti-Semitism for a change.
Lies like "Zionist attempts to transmit dangerous diseases like AIDS through exports to Arab countries" have no business being broadcast in the EU, particularly in a country with Europe's largest Jewish population.

In an ironic twist, Arab nations embraced French televison as being "Anti-American".

Commentators say this yet another policy implementation of Jacques Chirac's stated aspiration to spent eternity in a cool place. When reached for comment, a Chirac spokesperson declared: "The President has often said privately that it would be a cold day in Hell before he helped the Jews."

Wow!!! France did such a thing?!?!
The days of the Messiah arrived probably...
I didnt know that the newest fashion from Parisian Arabs those days is to claim that Israel spreads AIDS in the Arab world.
Perhaps they got confused with Yasser?

Actually, al-Manar is run by Hizbullah in Lebanon. They are the ones claiming Israel spreads AIDS.

Did Jackie Chirac know about this?
Hezbollah does not control any oil revenue...Ergo, their opinion on things probably don't count on the French yardstick.

The French may have banned Al-Manar however the U.S.A. keeps Hezbullah online and broadcasting to the world.
California-based Telestar, the worlds largest global satellite corporation, facilitates the broadcasting of Al-Manar into North America and Canada. The Patriot Act defines the facilitation of communication for terrorist purposes as a terrorist act. Providing satellite broadcasting and internet services to terrorist groups meets that criterion.

"France Bans Hezbollah Satellite TV as anti-Jewish"
Say what!?!?!?!?!
Must have been implemented by the only outfit in France that has any cujones - the French Foreign Legion (note the center word - Foreign)! Either that or Arafat was permitted to appear in a dream to Chirac and told Chirac that he'd be joining him in a very hot place where people want ice cubes if he let the Hezbollah broadcasts continue.
I seriously doubt that this is any real change in France's usual nasty anti-Israeli policies, though.
