Good:
It would probably kill his chances of becoming president
Get rid of the RINO in NY State
Bad: A bumbling idiot as homeland security chief

a decent choice, considering the alternatives being floated. he is a dead duck as governor against Spitzer anyway. He could even hold this role for 2 years, and parlay it into a senate run against Hillary - because Rudy will not be running for Senate against her.

That should ZOT him from HSA.

I'd like to see G. Gordon Liddy as Homeland Security Secretary. Or a reasonable facsimile.

Is there anyone outside of New York who might be able to do this job?

Sorry, man. Can't stomach it. If he had not given Kallstrom a sinecure, I might go for it.

I'd like to see G. Gordon Liddy as Homeland Security Secretary. Or a reasonable facsimile. Ollie North is tan, rested, and ready.

for governor, that is true. I am not so sure about the senate, because Hillary is the weakest NY state wide Dem candidate. if he still has enough "juice" to beat anyone, its her, especially if some as yet unforseen positive event happens while he was DHS head.

Initial polling for 2006 Senate: Hillary 46% Guilani 45%..she is weak
To: crushelits
Pataki's office is denying this.
