I'd like to see G. Gordon Liddy as Homeland Security Secretary

Do you think a felon would pass muster?

Pataki is an antigun liberal abortionist. He would be a good choice - for Al Queda!

I'd like to see G. Gordon Liddy as Homeland Security Secretary. Or a reasonable facsimile.

I'm with you, him or Oliver North. I like Pataki, but not for HSC. It should be someone with a very high profile, and a little on or over the edge. They don't have to be from New York. It should be someone with a military background, IMO. Someone who took all the terrorism attacks personally. I hope they don't appoint someone for political purposes. If that's the case, why don't they just appoint Hilary. /sarcasm If they want an easy confirmation, there you go.

I'm probably retiring at the end of this year, so as far as I'm personally concerned New York can go to hell in a handbasket if that's what they choose.

Talk about taxation without representation. If you work in New York but live out of state, you pay FULL New York State taxes--the same for non-residents as for residents--but get no benefits in return, and don't get to vote there.

Pataki is certainly an improvement over his predecessors. He's basically been a do-nothing governor, which is all to the good, because the alternative would have been to spend even more money on grandiose projects. It's not called the Empire State for nothing. Most of it's governors have been under the illusion that they were emperors.

we don't even have the political b*lls to fight off the wolves over a nanny tax issue, and yet I see all these people posting that Ollie North should be put up for DHS. are you people dreaming?

Don't kid yourself. It wasn't just a "nanny issue". Oliver North was fighting terrorism way back when. He did nothing for personal gain. If the public forgave Clinton, they should forgive Ollie. I think the terrorists would and should be more upset if he is appointed, than anyone in the U.S. If the administration is looking for an easy confirmation, they could just nominate Bill or Hilary. If Oliver North can't do it, bring in Gordon Liddy.

the media smear campaign against Kerik would be beanbag compared to the one against North or Liddy. You can't be serious.

..we haven't had an on-time budget in, what, 25 years..

The state legislature didn't give Pataki a budget until August 11th. That's 19 weeks late. How is Pataki responsible for that?

The media didn't smear Kerik. It was probably that Monday morning meeting he had with Corzine that made him change his mind. IMHO, he fared pretty well with the media, until after he declined the nomination.

If you think about it, Oliver North and Gordon Liddy are the media. They're basically media insiders. Either one could rise from the ashes. They should nominate one of them just for the heck of it. If they don't make it, the feeding frenzy would give the President time to find someone else.

While Albany faces a $6 billion budget deficit, Pataki himself stars in brand-new TV commercials...

When Pataki was finally sent the budget on August 20th, he responded with 195 vetoes.

I meant she has stronger credentials than Pataki.
Sorry about that.
I meant to post to the person who asked about New York RINOs.

I think Mr. Liddy, with his wife's gun knowledge, would be a stellar choice ; )

It's Bush we're talking about. RINO & governor means he's a shoe-in. Even more so if he's a brain dead open borders advocate.

Oh... and who can forget another chance for Bush to suck up to New York. Grrr.

Maybe Bush'll find a Mexican-American who was born the day after his mother arrived in the U.S.A illegally, blah, blah, The American Dream, blah...

When it comes to "border security" Bush really ticks me off!

Well unless it's a governor, someone who worked with Bush back in Texas, it seems if you're not from New York then Bush doesn't want to talk to you. Well, maybe Asa "I'm on Vincente's payroll" Hutchinson might get the nod but Bush won't pick someone TOUGH who will work hard on the border problems.

Don't expect to see someone like Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona selected. Or Congressman Tancredo. Or someone with a voting record above 50% on the illegal immigration issue. Won't happen. And I'm sure Rove is the puppet master behind this.
