I agree on the need for a pro-border control candidate for the GOP.

However free trade was a Clinton hall mark which is something Moore detests. If Moore does back Hillary then he'll prove himself to be even more of an opportunistic shill than I thought he was.

It was a hallmark because it probably polled well in some focus group in 1992 with some group of "swing" voters.

These people have no principles, other than reading an opinion poll.

Of course, on this issue, I wish our President would read an opinion poll.

I think it is too late, the public has associated open borders with the GOP, and since Bush is aggressively pushing another illegal give away, the GOP's goose will be cooked in 2008. Also add to that bigger and bigger trade deficits, bigger and bigger budget deficits one might come to the conclusion that the GOP is unable to govern the country. I have voted GOP all my life, but I am about to give up on them. The current GOP policies on trade, jobs, immigration, and the role of the Federal government are insane.
