As opposed to Saddam Hussein, I guess.

"We could have screened people out instead of screening them in and this could have saved us a lot of hassle and problems," Mr Yawar told the BBC. Right. The system has been penetrated enough as it is - imagin where we'd be if it started out with all the terrorist sympathizers onboard and we had depended on sympathizers to screen out other sympathizers. Sorry, fellers, that dawg don't hunt.

There is no basis for comparison between post-war Germany and post-war Iraq.
To try and do so is asinine and completely unhelpful.

Ghazi Yawar, the interim Iraqi President, has given warning that instability could spawn an "Iraqi Hitler" if his country's citizens continue to feel humiliated and despondent like the Germans after their defeat in the First World War. Yeah, and Saddam was Iraq's Paul von Hindenberg, the kindly old leader of a failed republic that had previously been defeated and humiliated. What a BS article, but then again, consider the source.

It's good that some people do seem to have an understanding of European history. However, I doubt that the incredible rebuilding of Iraq we've been doing (hello, Marshall Plan, anyone?) could in any way be compared to the Treaty that the incomprehensibly moronic French pushed on Germany after The Great War.
25+ years of hyper-inflation, starvation, and unemployment... compared to more schools, hospitals, freedom of employment, stabilized national revenue, stabilized principles of justice, etc.
Although, we also shouldn't ignore the possibility. We are, after all rather responsible for Saddam himself.
