A newborn baby believed to have been delivered on a Greyhound bus was found dead by bus cleaning personnel in the 1100 block of Seventh Street in San Francisco today, according to a fire department dispatcher.
The baby was found a little after 2 p.m., police Officer Maria Oropeza said.

If there had been a doctor present, could the woman plead "choice" as a defense?
May the woman who delivered and abandoned the baby rot in hell.
God. How cruel.
Greyhound will be fined for not providing a "choice-friendly" environment to its passengers.
It used to be in many states that a person could take a newborn to a hospital and just walk away, no questions asked.
Don't know if that is still the law/policy today.
It should be, and if the mother of this poor child had known about it the infant might be alive today and have a chance of growing up in a loving family.
I know there are a number of states that are supposed to have safe havens. I don't know how many people are aware of them, though.
NJ is one - we had a case last month where a 16 y.o. gave birth in secret and her younger brother brought the baby to the local police station. A much happier ending than this story :(
It is policy here in CA....just sad that people are so willing to dispose of life so easily. My sister tried for years to have a baby...she ended up adopting 2 Russian babies.
I know Arizona is one also. I wish they would get the word out in public service announcements or something. The alternative for some is what we have in this article.
Delaware is also a safe haven state.
Don't know what the answer is other than a program of increased awareness of "At Risk" pregnant women and efforts to intervene where necessary.
"her younger brother brought the baby to the local police station."
Good on that young uncle.
I'm sure that she was a victim of the heavy traffic on her way to the partial birth abortion. </sarcasm>
There is a program for that in California. For a while there were posters on many busses informing in Spanish and English that they could bring their newborns to fire stations and polices stations etc., no questions asked, but the funding for the advertising ran out, even though the program continues.
Yes, as a matter of fact, last week's $17 million CA lottery winners were a coulple that spends their time burying abandoned newborns as well as publicizing the law that allows a baby to be dropped off without penalty. I'm sure there is an eternal rerward waiting for them, but I'm delighted they got a little something on Earth, too.
