Thank you Trussell. I was hoping someone would find this.

This case is so sad. It appears that the police are still questioning the Mother, the boyfriend and his friend, but the reward makes it seem like this could have been a stranger abduction.

Prayers to Almighty God for His continued protection of Emily Rimel and for her speedy and safe return to her Mother and Grandmother. Prayers of comfort and peace for her Mother and family members and friends. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Missing Girl's Description Changes

Rimel Last Seen Early Last Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Madison Township investigators have changed the description of what a missing 5-year-old girl was wearing before her disappearance, NBC 4 reported.

On Monday, Madison Township police showed a 3-foot-tall mannequin that was dressed similar to what Emily Rimel was wearing before she disappeared.

Investigators said she was not wearing an orange and purple shirt, as first reported, but instead a lavender shirt and purple pants.

Officials hope that the mannequin will help people recognize the girl.

Emily was last seen at about midnight Dec. 7 at her family's apartment in the 4400 block of Reinbeau Drive.

She is 3 feet tall and about 48 pounds. She is white and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Police are still looking for clues. They have questioned the family, including Emily's mother's boyfriend, Brent Copley.

Copley was given a polygraph test. No suspects have been identified.

Anyone with information on Emily should call (614) 462-5502.

Missing Girl's Family Speaks Out

No one has seen or heard from Emily Rimel in 10 days. The Madison Township girl disappeared from her home sometime overnight on December 6.

Starting Thursday, postal carriers will deliver a flier about Emily to homes. It's part of the new "Deliver Me Home" project. The fliers have critical information on Emily, like her description, what she was last wearing and where she was last seen.

The goal is to get it in the hands of someone who might know something about her disappearance.

Team Adam Member Larry Bonney says, "It might jog somebody's memory."

The fliers will be up in post offices and more than 35,000 fliers are going out to specific zip codes in Columbus and Madison Township.

Emily's mother and her boyfriend talked to 10TV about the polygraph examinations that were administered to them by the police, and they spoke about the one other person who may have been the last to see Emily.

"She is a very happy and loving child, and it shows she really loves her family," says mother Jane Rimel.

The police have made it clear that Jane Rimel and Brent Copley are among the four people being scrutinized in the disappearance of Emily.

Copley says, "Like they always say, they got to eliminate from the family on out. That's fine with us. They're doing their job."

That job, the couple says, included lie detector tests for both of them.

"They told me that everything came out fine with mine," says Rimel.

As for Copley's polygraph test, he says, "Yeah, as far as I know everything was okay. Nothing to my knowledge came out wrong."

The other person named by investigators in the case is 23-year-old Lindsey Bruce, who was sleeping in the couple's apartment when Emily vanished. His maroon Lincoln has been seized by police.

Copley says, "We tried the first day to contact him and he refused to talk with us. Since then, we have not heard form him at all he has not said two words to us."

When asked if he was concerned Bruce might have done something, Copley says, "Honestly, yeah. It's looking pretty bad for him in this whole situation."

Police have said that Lindsay Bruce is among those being investigated in this case. No charges have been filed against anyone.

Rimel says she is confident her child will be found alive, and that she can't think about any other possibilities.

Man Arrested, Charged In Missing Girl Case
Emily Rimel Missing Since Dec. 7

POSTED: 5:48 pm EST December 17, 2004
UPDATED: 3:17 am EST December 18, 2004

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man has been arrested in the case of a 5-year-old girl who has been missing for more than 10 days, NBC 4's Teresa Garcia reported.

Emily Rimel was last seen at about midnight Dec. 7 at her family's Madison Township apartment in the 4400 block of Reinbeau Drive.

Lindsey Bruce, 23, who is an acquaintance of the boyfriend of Emily's mother, was arrested Friday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with one count of rape. Bruce was a house guest in the missing girl's home at the time of her disappearance, NBC 4 reported.

Madison Township Police Chief Greg Ryan said physical evidence linked Bruce to the girl, but would not give specifics. NBC 4 reported that the physical evidence is DNA.

Law enforcement obtained three search warrants last week. The warrants were sealed, but NBC 4 learned that Bruce was not cooperative and that's why investigators got the three warrants.

One of the warrants was for Bruce's home, another was for his vehicle and the third was for Bruce himself so officials could obtain his DNA.

NBC 4 learned that Emily's DNA was found on Bruce, and that led to the rape charge and arrest.

Ryan said detectives were to search Bruce's apartment for more evidence Friday night.

"It's absolutely shocking," said Emily's mother, Jane Rimel. "In my heart everything ... It just doesn't seem possible that anybody else did it."

She said that at first she didn't think Bruce had anything to do with it.

"I didn't think he'd do anything like that because he's stayed over so many times," she said. "My family trusted him. I trusted him. He never got me suspicious about anything."

Police searched Bruce's Fairwood Avenue home the afternoon of Emily's disappearance. He volunteered to be questioned by police, NBC 4 reported.

Emily is 3 feet tall and about 48 pounds. She is white and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a lavender shirt and purple pants.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information. The reward will be issued only if Emily is found alive or if the information leads to the arrest of the person or people responsible for taking her.

Investigators said they have administered polygraph tests to persons of interest, but are not making those results known at this time.

Jane Rimel said Thursday that she and her live-in boyfriend, Brent Copley, were given polygraph tests.

"They asked me if I could lead them to my daughter, if I could ever hurt my children in anger," she said. "Everything turned out fine with mine. They didn't see anything to worry about."

"God's going to keep her safe," Jane Rimel said. "She's going to return safely to us."

Ryan said Friday that Jane Rimel asked that anyone who has her daughter to drop her off at the nearest public building.

A Web site has been created with information on Emily's disappearance. The Web site is http://www.childseeknetwork.com/EmilyRimel.htm.

Anyone with information on Emily should call (614) 462-5502.

Girl’s fate may soon be told

Suspect charged with rape expected to disclose 5-year-old’s whereabouts
Tuesday, December 21, 2004
Bruce Cadwallader
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Franklin County prosecutors could learn today the whereabouts of 5-year-old Emily Rimel from the man accused of raping her, although one said indications are the girl is dead.

Lindsey Bruce had been prepared to reveal the girl’s whereabouts yesterday, but a change of defense attorneys postponed the matter.

If three defense lawyers who met briefly with Bruce in a courthouse holding cell had learned that Emily, missing from her Madison Township home since Dec. 7, were alive, they would have been required to divulge that information, Assistant County Prosecutor Greg Peterson said.

"That would be considered an ongoing crime and must be reported," he said. "It’s not looking good" that she is alive.

Bruce, 23, a friend of Brent Copley’s, the boyfriend of Emily’s mother, had called Madison Township police from the jail, saying he wanted "to bring the investigation to an end," Peterson said.

The implication was it concerned Emily’s whereabouts, Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said.

But that was put on hold when Bruce said yesterday that he did not want to hire private attorney David C. Young, and instead wanted a judge to appoint the public defender’s office to handle his case.

Bruce’s family had planned to hire Young.

An emergency hearing was called before Municipal Court Judge H. William Pollitt Jr. Bruce spoke briefly with Young and two public defenders.

The public defenders said they could not represent him because the family was hiring a lawyer and told Pollitt that Bruce would not make a statement yesterday.

Young plans to meet with Bruce today and then, depending on what Bruce tells him, could meet with prosecutors.

Emily’s mother, Jane Rimel, has made repeated public pleas for help in locating her daughter. She was at work when Emily disappeared from their apartment.

Last night, Rimel spoke from her home and said she refuses to consider her daughter being dead.

"I can’t even believe that," she said.

Rimel said that prosecutors have asked her if she’d accept a plea bargain if Bruce agrees to reveal where Emily is.

"I told them I would agree to anything if it gets my daughter back alive," Rimel said. "I feel like I’ve failed her."

Copley, who lives with Jane Rimel, Emily and the couple’s 2-year-old son, said he is holding out hope that Emily is alive.

Of speculation that she was killed by Bruce, Copley said: "If that’s true, I’m going after him myself."
