Afghan President Hamid Karzai predicted Sunday that luck would play a role in catching terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, but he promised "we will get him sooner or later."
Karzai, hand-picked by the Bush administration as interim leader before he handily won election to the presidency in October, told CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer" that he believed bin Laden was still "around the region."
"No fugitive can run forever," he said. "We will get him sooner or later. And trust me on that. We will do that.
"In terms of the specifics of the Afghan nation and the coalition against terrorism, we are much closer," he added. "In terms of getting him physically, let's count on our luck and good pursuit."

That's probably what will happen. We'll stumble upon the right guy at the right time who'll point us in the right direction.

Karzai dismissed a letter from the London-based Human Rights Watch that alleged "U.S. forces continue to arrest and hold Afghans ... incommunicado and indefinitely, without regard to and in violation of Afghan law" as well as physical abuse of prisoners and an inadequate response from the military to concerns.
"All of us make mistakes," the president said. "American troops have made mistakes here. The Afghan government has made mistakes here. Others have made mistakes here. The coalition forces have made mistakes here. The Afghan people have seen that, and have accepted it. So now, onward."
Karzai Says, "Bin Laden Will Be Caught, just like we caught Mullah OMAR."
Hilarious, and naive. It does make for nice sound-bytes, tho.
..."..."It was the misery of the past 30 years that forced Afghans to go to the cultivation of poppy,"..."...
Hilarious and naive....Growing poppies in Afghanistan has been going on for centuries, if legends and old tales from the region are to be believed. I believe them.

... and then Bill Clinton will pardon him !!! ;-))
The work "luck" was used WAY too many times for a warm and fuzzy feeling to be had.
Heck, everybody knows he's hiding with D. B. Cooper. Just find Cooper and you've got bin Laden.
The boys and girls in Havanna seem to agree. We don't really want to catch either one: So they say. But they do so love to snipe . . .
THEY claim to still be searching for Osama bin Laden, the millionaire terrorist who leads the Al Qaeda network, but now nobody believes them. His name crops up every time George W. Bush needs him to keep the U.S. populace on tenterhooks and perpetually afraid, but thats as far as any interest in his presence goes.
The Saudi has absolutely no priority in Washingtons persecutory plans, just like Al Zarqawi whose name, after the reoccupation and destruction of the city of Falluja where he was allegedly operating, is not even mentioned.
Please, does anyone remember who Mullah Omar was?
That is how those figures are utilized, the protagonists of a production via the contrivances of skillful propaganda and almost characters of pure fiction, aimed at creating panic and ensuring a clear route towards a new war. It doesnt matter where, but certainly, far from the United States, the empire allegedly endangered by international terrorist action.
Did the spies, informants, electronic surveillance devices, robots entering and leaving caves, and planes scanning from the sky all fail? It would seem so, but might not be the case. The curtain falls.
Begging to differ with the Almighty CNN, but Karzai was unanimously elected to the interim leadership of his country by a group of his countrymen who came together to choose an interim leader.
By his nuts, and then they squeeze them hard, I hope.
Ah yes....yet another we are going to get Bin Laden article...talk is cheap
Why make fun of this guy? His English is good but it's not his first language.
Plus he has seemed to be a very good ally to the US and the entire coalition.
I admire him.
Only if they make a donation to this library.
There is nothing naive about Hamid Karzai.
Not unless he's stupid enough to be in Afghanistan.
I smell ozone here...
