CORRECTION: SADDAM himself is NOT on hunger strike. Saddam Aides Refusing Food, U.S. Military Says

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Several of Saddam Hussein's jailed deputies have been refusing food but Saddam himself is not on hunger strike on the eve of the first anniversary of his capture, an officer in charge of detainees said on Sunday.

"It appears that some of the other 11 high-value detainees have been rejecting food, although they continue to snack and to take on liquids," Lieutenant Colonel Barry Johnson, deputy director of detainee operations in Baghdad, told Reuters.

"We're trying to ascertain who is turning their food back and why," he said.

Johnson said those who had rejected food began doing so on Saturday, but some had also eaten on Sunday morning.

"There are a lot of conflicting reports about what they have eaten and when," he said, flatly denying Saddam, who is held separately from the others, was among those not eating.

"Saddam is not on a hunger strike. He ate all of his scheduled meals today," a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad said after media reports quoted a lawyer for one of the other detainees saying Saddam, 67, was on hunger strike.

Is there any Arab leader anywhere in the world, either in the present or in the past, who has ever even once swerved from the 'Do as I say, not as I do' path of governance?

There was an earlier report saying that Saddam and his top leaders are on Hunger strike.

"SADDAM ON HUNGER STRIKE

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1299737/posts

SADDAM ON HUNGER STRIKE Ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and 11 top leaders of his regime have gone on hunger strike in their US detention centre. "

Apparently Saddam is eating like a horse, eating all his meals and snacks, and his henchmen are skipping a few meals, but eating their snacks, not much of a hunger strike.

I guess MSM just wanted to get some sympathy for Saddam, so they put out this story.

And even when they didn't eat their meals, they did eat their snacks.

Apparently they are getting three meals AND snacks.

Well, one could show polite consideration and help them a little, by stopping feeding. None of them would be any loss.

Simple explanation: They're doing the Jesse Jackson hunger strike. That's where you just pass the strike on to the next guy when you get hungry. As long as one person's not eating the strike can go on.

I'll just get my wife to cook for him. He'll gladly go on a hunger strike then.

1) Saddam complains he's hungry

2) Turn on giant shredder

3) Throw Saddam's food down mouth of shredder

4) Throw Saddam down shredder after food

"They (the detainees) heard that they are going to be handed over after the elections to an Iraqi government they will not recognize,"

I'm sure the gallows or firing squad will be reminder enough.

Figgers.

Hunger strike by proxy.

Just like they never send their own kids to be blown to smithereens (sp?).

I'd put nothing in front of him but pig, pig and more pig.
