US 'checks N-chief's phone calls' From correspondents in Washington December 13, 2004
THE Bush administration is reportedly scrutinising intercepted telephone conversations that International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei had with Iranian diplomats.
The Washington Post today reported the US was in search of ammunition to oust him from his post.
The newspaper said the intercepts showed the lengths to which some in the administration were going to try to replace a top international diplomat who questioned Washington's actions in Iraq and on the Iran nuclear issue.
The report, sourced to three unnamed US government officials, said the intercepts had produced no evidence of nefarious conduct by Mr ElBaradei.
However, it said some within the administration believed the conversations showed Mr ElBaradei, the director-general at the UN's nuclear watchdog agency, lacked impartiality because he tried to help Iran to navigate a diplomatic crisis over its nuclear programs.

tick, tick, tick
This is a "warning" to MEB NOT to run again
I hope he "gets it".
This guy is swapping spit with the Iranians and the newspaper accuses the US of meddling.
Curious. What's the deal here? Is this another case of rogue CIA or State Department commies trying their best to undermine the Bush administration and US national security, or is it a carefully-planted leak intended to somehow signal or pressure El Baradei? Or, perhaps even a bizarre reverse double-cross aimed at strengthening El Baradei's hand in dealing with the Iranians, so that he can defuse allegations that he is a tool of the US?
US in search of ammunition to oust him ....
9mm should do it. If he was helping the Iranians get the nuke that is far kinder a fate than I would prefer.
I hope this is true. He should have been gone a long, long time ago.
Whose idea was it anyway to let a muzzie run an organization that is supposed stop nuclear proliferation?
