The problem is the version of Quran they are allowing into the armed forces. The Penguin Version is specifically tailored to impress the Westerners. I come from an Asian country and I have known the Penguin's Quran. It does NOT translate the violent verses of Quran accurately. Therefore, the American Soldiers will not have a chance to understand the REAL violent, unethical Quran. Only, the Yusuf Ali's or Pickthal's or the Bukhari's TRANSLITERATIONS are the most authentic and accurate. ONLY if people read any of these three TRANSLITERATIONS will know the amount of violence and women abuse Quran advocates from islamists. If sane people, will not learn these things in Quran by following softer "tailored" versions of Quran that are specifically developed for Westerners and non-Muslims, there is a real possibility that atleast some of the Marines will end up believing "Islam is the religion to follow". how do you think people like John Walker Lindh and other westerners, hindus, christians, sikhs get converted? With these same softer and tailored versions of Penguin's Quran!!! So think about it, after all Marines are like anyone else, they can be misled into believing in islam. If Mullahs and Imams are the ones your country's DoD is approaching, seeking suggestions on the version of Quran to be recommended to the Marines during this most critical period of the war on terror, then it is something to be VERY concerned about.
Well, atleast this is how the well-wishers of USA living in other countries feel about this situation.
Penguin's Quran was also recommended to Indian armed forces....but we, fighting Islamic terrorism, since decades, know that Penguin's Quran si a bad deal- created for misleading the non-muslims into believing in Quran.
All I am saying is, your DoD should have taken a better decision by giving Yusuf Ali's transiletration of Quran to your Marines. The (right) decisions America takes during these crunch times is what guarantees a successover these Islamic cowards, since rest of the anti-American countries are cowards anyway-for example, like the French and the German.

I think USA should develop small bombs that can deliver high amounts of transient radiation based on fission or fusion nuclear reaction. That way, when these terrorists get bombed, they can be effectively wiped out....

True this is something that is always a problem when you study the "dark side", but knowledge is power, and if it helps our soldiers in working with Muslims then this is good.

good point. We will see how it plays out. During the first Gulf War several hundred U.S. soldiers converted to Islam. We now must have Islamic preachers as well as Christian in the U.S. armed forces.
