un-freakin-real and un-freakin-American!
Well if the houses are on campus, you have a problem in that
the land probably belongs to the U. e dealth
If off campus, its a clear violation of the Constitution (freedom of association), and recognition by the university is
no big deal as far as I am concerned.
Expulsion / suspension can be dealt with by lawyers, perhaps those donations the Alumni provides each year should go to the
legal defense fund instead of the U.
Of course, when I was at the UofM, greeks were a constant subject of derision and ridicule, so my sympathy is limited to constitutional issues.
The houses are indeed off campus, and they are privately owned.
Well if off campus, then it sounds like Extortion.
I think you could trigger a perp-walk if you pulled
the right chains. Hint: Aim HIGH. Don't screw around in
state courts.
I had the misfortune to attend the University of Michigan
While I have no great affection for greek organizations, this is intolerable. Non-pc groups will be barred from having houses. If I was there I'd immediately lobby for some extremely offensive (to the lefties) non-pc house such as a hetero, 2nd amendment, or fundamentalist Christian house.
You're the second person here in only an hour to tell me that you aren't all that fond of Greek houses, and frankly, I understand. They have their problems, to be sure...but that's for another day and another debate. I appreciate that despite your feelings for those organizations, you can still spot what's going on here. If you think that's bad, go ahead and visit our website. Get a load of what they're teaching there lately.
every fraternity on campus needs to get a lawyer now and start filing the suits monday morning. boycott colgate I know im switching to crest first thing tomorrow
No kidding. Hearing all their coeds sing that "Whales for the Victors" song all the time must have been maddening enough. Then you factor in having the chokingest football coach of all time for all those years, a coach whose ability to not win the big one made John Cooper look like Jimmy Johnson, and geez, it would drive any red-blooded American male crazy. Only that could account for male graduates from that era actually rooting for UM after they leave, as far as I can see.
Of course, there is that longstanding rumor that most Ganders are Canucks who got lost on the ice...that would explain the madness, too.
you know what...the more they uncover about the problems within and outside the buckeye football program right now, the more tarnished Cooper is looking.
There is a reason he isnt getting any looks for a new coach head coaching job. He comes with baggage the size of Alaska....
Some of the T-shirts I saw at the OSU Missagain game this year were great....
Well said.

No offense FRiend,
But:
breaking news?
link to story?
Actually, the Football and Academics were great. It was the complete outbreak of the "Student Activists" aided by their co-conspirators on the Faculty that made for many tense moments.
As an aside, to be truthful, I miss the fire of the old Woody v Bo confrontations. The current crop of coaches are so bland the rivalry is flagging don't you think?
NEVER liked John Cooper. I wasn't one to have hired him and my dad and I would have fired him years before.
Dad grew up in Ohio and rooted for OSU for no good reason other than they weren't Notre Dame (priests annoyed him with their constant pro-Notre-Dame harping) and weren't Michigan (he theorized that Ganders were folks that Ohioans didn't want around and kicked out, and he respected his elders' judgment). I don't have much reason to root for OSU either, but I do anyway. :)
Leave it to a UM fan to say that in a year UM loses. :)
