I was an election judge in the recount in SD when Tom Daschle squeaked by Leo Thorsness (winner of the Medal of Honor). I always wondered what another 200 votes Leo's way would have done. Good riddance! John Thune is a real class act.
My mother worked on the Thorsness campaign. He was friends with my grandfather (I think from American Legion). 200 votes? I thought he only won by 17 after it went to court (Hence the nickname "landslide Daschle". I agree about Thune. Hubby, mom and I spent the summer helping out in SD for Thune.
