Yep. As usual, Oliver North is on the mark. So sad that Yushchenko will have a lifetime of health problems and will see an early death because of this. Thanks.

Don't respond to posts that you don't read in full, tf. You take the context of what I wrote wrongly - I was asked where the "sushi" charge came from and I posited that it was probably on the menu and thus became public knowledge. Also serving poison in food at a party is dangerous as a tool for assassination because - despite Hollywood stories - the victim may not eat enough to kill him or someone else may eat off your plate and thus make it obvious it was foul play.

WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING THE RUSSIANS?
Whoever did this was either brilliant in the amount to give to maim and disfigure, but not kill, in an attempt to make him unappealing.
Or a doofus who screwed it up.
KGB, Ukranian forces loyal to Yanukovich? Who cares. I don't care if it was a witch with a poisoned apple.
Someone tried to kill him for political purposes.

Why are you so he**-bent on defending the Ruskies? You apparently know they were FOR Yunokovych. Again, WHO else would you think may have done this to Yushchenko?

Yanukovich's people started the sushi and alcohol story.
the victim may not eat enough to kill him
Apparently he didn't. LOL!
That doesn't mean they didn't try.
How hard would it be to put poison in a bowl of soup in the kitchen by someone. The server would probably have to have been involved also. That's easy enough to do.
This was not on Yuschenko's tuff. It was on theirs.

That is a good question. We don't know - but if an attempt at his life (which is possible) not done by pros (who did not know better than to pick a poor poison) is what I am thinking. How does that figure in your thinking?

Someone has to fight the irrational thought from the other side. I also think supporting Russia as a future buffer against the EU and China is something America should do. The Ukraine will get dime none from America (America is broke and buys zero from Ukr.) and will be a tool either of Russia or the EU. I rather it be with Russia.
I don't accept that Russia is the USSR part 2 and will invade America like you seem to think. I also support Russia's was against Islamists and al-Qaeda which predates America's war against al-Qaeda 9/11 by 6 years.

Yushchenko has been disfigured and the Russians have sent a clear message for all the opposition to see. Do you really think Putin gives a Freep that circumstantially this poisoning points to Yanukovych and himself? Do you think Bill Clinton cared about circumstatial evidence?
I don't.

I was Yushchenko's wife on one of the morning TV shows Thursday and she was saying it was looking very promising the side effects of the poisoning (e.g., the disfigurment of Yushie's face) would very likely wear off and that he would return to normal.

I also think supporting Russia as a future buffer against the EU and China is something America should do. Russia had large scale support from many here at FR and even the President, several years ago. Putin has taken advantage of that support. He has taken advantage of the WOT. He could have been an historic leader. He has blown it.

The guy is running for president. What else do you expect his wife to say?

The picture combo shows Viktor Yushchenko in file photos dated March 28, 2002, left, and Dec. 6, 2004, right. The Ukrainian opposition leader and presidential candidate's mysterious illness that scared his face was caused by dioxin poisoning, doctors said Saturday Dec. 11, 2004, in Vienna, Austria. Well, I surely hope he doesn't experience the long-term
effects that Oliver North described from Dioxin poisoning.

My thinking is that someone tried to kill Yushchenko. His opponent was STRONGLY supported by KGB boy Putin. Not too hard to go from there, imho .....

You hold the title of King of Irrational thought destro.
Apparently our government sees the strategical beneifts of the Ukraine differenlty than you do.
Destro, I don't think Russia is going to invade us. We have been this round also.
The Ukraine is strategically important for the USA.
It is an important ally.
The war on terror is not the issue here.

Fair enough. I was simply curious, and you answered. I can live with that. I may or may not agree as I get time to read into this situation more, but you at least were upfront and honest. Thanks!
