It's good that Kerik withdrew himself from consideration. At a time like this we need someone more sensitive to the feelings of our enemies.
Kerik would have made them even madder at us than they already are.

Read somewhere that his wife is a Syrian Muslim. Could that be the reason??

Just another example of how the left has crippled this country. So now he's worried about the tax status of an employee that will keep him from (and us) benefitting the US with his abilities. The anal orofice examination of anyone who might qualify for anything (from the right side of the equation) that keeps everyone "clean" will disqualify those who might show a little testosterone & will eventually cripple this nations ability to defend itself. I'm telling you folks, it's getting closer and closer, be prepared to defend yourselves because your outer armament is being stripped away by the PC culture. BUY AMMO. You will need it.

What a shame. None of this stuff mattered before? Kerik's been all over the globe working for this administration and now there's a problem.

Dang! Well, better to do it now, then have something come out and the Dems try to beat the President up about it. I'm glad Mr. Kerik is a mensch

Hmmmmmm. Dem's go full court press against Bernard Kerik and he resigns. Politics of personal destruction again.
I think it is time for the Republicans to up the stakes.
I hope that the Republicans "play the race card" and say that the reason that Dem's did what they did was because of Mr. Kerik's race. That Dem's are anti-Hispanic. Yes, I think that even if it is not true, the "race card should be played."

Oliver North was the US counter-terrorism coordinator from 1983-1986. He would really drive the libs nuts though the libs might have some fun too trying to bring up his possible involvement in drug smuggling.

In a surprise move, former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik abruptly withdrew his nomination... A "surprise move"? Oh please. The Leftist media had it out for this guy. They were Borking him with hit piece upon hit piece. Kerik's nomination was doomed by the "mainstream" (sic) media days ago.

Amazing. He hires an illegal immigrant, he gets punished. The government encourages and refuses to control illegal immigration, its members win re-election.

One thing is for sure. When we were in a position several years ago to bring a maid into the house to clean, it always used to tick me off that they refused to accept a check for payment and always wanted cash. I told my husband NO WAY, because, for starters, we were self-employed with in-home business and subsequent writeoffs and needed to be able to LEGALLY track cleaning expenditures for tax purposes. This situation had "illegal aliens" written all over it and I didn't want anything to do with it.

Kerik is a good guy, but if the President (and perhaps the Republican Party as a whole) is to have any credibility on the immigration issue, he could not be Secretary of a department where immigration plays such a major role.

What a shame. He would have been good for the job.

Nannygate seems like a really lame excuse.
"I have a hangnail" would have been more compelling.

As long as Mineta continues his "no terrorist left behind" approach to transportation security the DHS job will be an extremely difficult one.
