Shattering Ronaldus Magnus all-time record of votes received in 1984 which was 54 million. The real election will begin and end Monday when the Electoral College convenes across the country to cast its vote.

I can already see the DUmmies posts asking people to beg the Ohio electors to change their votes.

Unfortunately, sadly...almost blasphemously IMHO, Kerry also shattered Ronald Reagan's blow-out vpopular vote total.

Thank God we were able to energize the base and a lot of heretofore uninvolved voters to win the day. After thanking God for His influence, we can thank the Swifties, our own activism through places like FR, talk radio, and so many others for that.

Why do people keep saying this... Doesn't the fact that the population of the United States is much higher mean anything? In the year 2075 when the US population is 600 million people, will it be a big deal that George W. Bush VI got 200 million votes?

I was going to ask when that was going to happen. Thanks

This is a meaningless statistic, IMO. The relevent statistics in the 1984 election are that Reagan demolished Mondale by 59-41%, an eye-poppoing 18% advantage, and took an astonishing 525 EV's (vs Mondale's 13 EV's, his home state and the welfare state of DC), giving Reagan a whopping 513 EV advantage.

The nation has a much larger voting population than in 1984. Too bad Reagan did not have a solid republican legislature to work with, we might be doing without much of the nonsense we have now (Depts. of Ed and Energy, Legal Services Administration, Corp for Public Broadcasting, etc.).
