The conventional wisdom of the political punditry has been proven wrong again. A huge national voter turnout was thought to favor the Democrat candidate, but Pres. Bush's national popular vote count from the Nov. 2, 2004 general election has now exceeded 62 million votes. As of 12/10/04, Pres. Bush has received 62,019,003 votes. The states of NY and PA have certified their official results in the past two days which pushed Pres. Bush's vote count over the 62 million mark. CA will certify its results tomorrow, but almost all CA votes are already included in the Bush total (by obtaining vote counts from CA county websites). Only MN, ME and a few other states have yet to certify their official results.
Dont be stupid. Its accepted practice to round up to the nearest whole number if the half percentage point exceed .5. In Bush's case, he got 51% of the popular vote. That won't change and it sticks in libs' craws that the President is popular with a majority of the American people. Now its time for them to put up with it for another four years.
You cannot make this stuff up 9 of the original 13 colonies and ten other states voted for an admitted war criminal!
Yes, JK and the Dems had a mighty impressive turnout. They were able to fire up their base (or manufacture votes in record number--I suspect a combination of the two). It would have been a coup d'theatre, except for one thing they did not foresee--W inspired even more people to turn out in support of him. Fate has a played its cruel, mocking role once again for the Dems--they achieved their goal of a massive turnout, having incited millions cast their vote for the Gray Blur--only to be outdone in heroic fashion by the foot soldiers carrying the Republican banner.
Half of Kerry's voters were anti-Bush. His real support is probably somewhere around 25 million. Virtually ALL of Bush's voters cast their votes for the President in the affirmative. So Bush actually won by a landslide since half of the Kerry voters won't be around in 2008 for the most obvious reason.
Try 37 million votes. You'll feel much better.
I'm still surprised Bush won Iowa.
This story, of course, will be Front Page in NY Times, LA Times, Wash Post,Boston Globe ......BUSH VOTES EXCEED 62 MILLION - A RECORD!
(How will the PEST-sufferers ever get through the inauguration?)
I wasn't surprised. Western Iowa is a GOP stronghold and now there more Republican registered voters in the state than Democrats. The last Republican presidential candidate to carry the Hawkeye State was Ronald Reagan in 1984.

As I believe that those extra 28 million votes were cast by enemies of the USA I do not feel better.
No smoke and mirrors here, no spin...just a simple statement.
Of course GWB was not being serious he was just trying to buy votes! /sarcasm

"I went through your vote totals and what seems scary is that Kerry carried only 19 states and the DC yet got within 3 million votes of being elected."
The main reason that the national popular vote % was relatively close is due to CA and NY. Kerry ran up huge margins in those two states (2.6 million votes) which masked how poorly Kerry did in the rest of the country. Pres. Bush won 31 states and came within approx. 10,000 votes in NH and WI. The race was also quite close in MN, MI, PA, and OR. Pres. Bush also greatly improved his performance in states like NJ and CT. In sum, Pres. Bush was much more of a national candidate than Kerry.
And your right !!!
We also seem to have a troll named : bormijitsu .
OK. I found it. A couple of days old. Looks like 59.9% - might go over 60% when they go final.

Breaking it down to CA and NY is even more scary because you are talking about 4 maybe 5 cities!
