eSalt Action Alert - Senate Judiciary Committee
christianity.com ^ | Richard Land

Posted on 12/10/2004 2:50:08 AM PST by The_Eaglet

If something is not done right away, Arlen Specter is in line to become the next Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator Specter has called Roe v. Wade "inviolate." As a result, we cannot expect strong, conservative, pro-life judicial nominees to receive favorable treatment from him.

With as many as three Supreme Court openings possible within the next four years and countless federal judgeships that need filling, Senator Specter will be holding the gate to their confirmation by the Senate. In other words, ... we may not be able to get them past the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for a vote.

It would be disastrous to have fought so hard and for so long and to be on the very brink of victory only to have one of the most important contributions we can make to the future of our country derailed by Senator Arlen Specter. We need to begin immediately to put pressure on other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose Senator Specter's selection as Chairman of that Committee.

I hope you will join me and thousands of other concerned citizens by contacting Senator Frist and expressing your opposition to Senator Specter's selection as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. If any of your Senators are Republicans, I encourage you to contact them about this crucial issue.

You can click on this link to contact Senator Frist or any other Senator to express your opposition to Senator Specter. Just tell them, "Dear Senator __________, I oppose Senator Specter as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. I do not believe that he will support strong, pro-life judicial nominees." If any of your Senators are Republicans, I encourage you to contact them about this crucial issue.

It won't be settled until January when the Senate fills the judiciary committee positions for the next term.

I labeled Specter a louse at the Clinton impeachment where he betrayed both common sense and what is right. His behavior since then has continued to confirm that no matter what party he says he belongs to, his principles (if any) are liberal. No Republican should back him. Let the democrats have him.

Good point. The last thing we need is a Clintonian Republican heading the judiciary committee.

Please Help Prevent Arlen Specter From Becoming Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee!
