The U.S. Supreme Court has finally put an end to the year-long misuse of public funds by the notorious Mary Frances Berry, head of the U.S. Commission of Civil Rights.
Without comment, the court yesterday declined to review a unanimous ruling of the U.S. Court of Appeals that forbade Berry from blocking President Bush's appointment of Peter Kirsanow to sit on the commission.

Ms. Berry could become a spokes-person for, oh, I don't know, a pancake company or something (like they accused Dr. Rice of being).
With a conservative majority on the Commission, finally real work can be done to address issues facing minorities instead of playing the race card to further the Democratic Party's agenda.

Good riddance. After 25 years on the federal dole, let's hope its the last we ever see of the notorious Berry. She's been around too long for the country's good.
The Democrats are looking for someone to head the DNC. Mary Frances Berry would be a perfect fit.

Shouldn't the purpose of such a commission be to eliminate the need for itself? (by reducing systematic discrimination enough that we no longer need reports on the statistics)

A victim of its own success, the old civil rights movement has long outlived its usefulness. Any legitimate civil rights issue has long been resolved, and now the new frontier is true racial equality. In the absence of a clear remaining mission for the movement, the old civil rights leaders have evolved into the premier obstacles to racial equality as power politics has seeped in to fill the vacuum. Slowly but surely, a new generation of relevant leaders are emerging to advance racial equality by deconstructing the destructive culture of perpetual victimhood created by the old civil rights leaders in their selfish pursuit of their own power and greed. This is where the imbalance and obstruction to equality exists, and this is where the battle must be fought if further progress is to be made. It looks like the President has made yet another excellent choice in this appointment.
