I'm reposting this article so people who worked in the morning can read it. Forgive me but my heart goes out for these people who sacrifice so much for us, for me.

In WWII, frontline infantry fought from Africa to Berlin and the only thing that got them out was death or debilitating wounds. This is WWIII. I respect the sacrifices of the volunteer military, but let's stop the whining.

Compared to Nam, this is nothing.

Thank you. We're loosing too much life and limb for these non-US citizens.

The Cost-Benefit ratio of this war is getting too large.

If the war is because of 9-11, then the higher the cost-benefit ratio of our response is, the more successful and the happier - the more comfortable - we make Bin Laden.

Have the elections, and get the hell out. DO NOT POSTPONE.

My heart goes out to them also - they are much stronger and resolute folks than I. But if an extension means fewer will die because troop strength is maintained - and incoming troops are at full proficiency (unlike WW II et al) I am dead sure they will accept the sacrifice of time away from home to insure lives will be spared, and the desired peaceful outcome when it's over.

I have completed two tours over in Iraq. I would gladly go back if one of those soldiers or Marines could come home. Everyone please keep them in your prayers and their families also.

My best friend is in Baghdad. He has said many times that he knew exactly what it was he signed up for. Some men during World War II did not come home for four years. Families at that time got a letter every once in a while. They didn't have phone cards or an occasional internet connection. Many of them didn't volunteer, though they went willingly. If they were wounded they had survival odds somewhat less than the 9 out of 10 we experience today. Going up against a few Tiger tanks in your Sherman was not easy. Many of them went weeks without a hot meal and Halliburton was not available.

Wars are tough on soldiers and on their families. This war has its own unique problems and terrors that soldiers in previous wars did not have. But some perspective is needed. HONORING these troops for what they are doing for us is one thing....pitying them.....or feeling sorry for them is not honoring them.
