Why are you so bitter? You should be happy that I'll be working till I'm 80 (the probable retiring age in 2054) all the while paying your social security so you can take some nice vacations (BTW have a pina colada on me if you vacation south of the border...consider it a charitable work from all of us working for the common good). The game is off of course...if they euthanize us "for the betterment of society" at age 65 or the Chinese take over and have us all in internment camps. Enjoy your retirement.
Interesting. It always annoyed me, getting lumped in the the Boomers, but never felt I was an Xer, either. Apparently I'm not the only one, and people "get" that, now.
Who's the bitter one here?
It's not confined to any one generation. I have heard that one becomes an adult when he understands his parents, and becomes mature when he forgives them.
Which of us has not needed forgiveness, and which of us can afford not to give it?
It is insane. Lot's of folks mad and mommy and daddy.
Boy you just hit the hornets nest with a stick! Good luck!
They are gonna get him!
"Gen Xers on FR put us all in the Woodstock crowd which was a microscopic percentage. They believe Cronkite and blame you and me. My Gen X kids were raised by a stay at home mom and are as conservative as their dad. They never generalize either. Too many Gen X'ers are mad at their mommy and daddy."
Bump and reprinted for posterity!!
And we ain't gonna relinquish the Title!!
You are the bitter one, still mad at mommy and daddy. Your income would never support me. I have no plans for SS because I don't need it little one. With all your anger you'll do good to make 50 so don't worry about me.
What does the Jones mean? Actually, I thought we were Brady Boomers, defined as all the guys who wanted to pork Marcia, and were young enough that it wouldn't have been a crime.
Kinda makes me think of kids in dept stores that are tweaked on sugar.
Believe me...I'm not bitter...I take responsibility for myself, my family and my finances...all are choices that I have to make and that I bear consequence for. I got no problem with that. However, the current financial burden, and degredation of American society suffered by all sane, patriotic, and non-hyphenated Americans was perpetrated and created by FDR and LBJ socialists. I am bitter about that, simply because I am not the only one that will have to deal with it...but my kids...and my kid's kids as well.
My generation accepts that we will forever be a minority in society and largely ignored by politicians (not the "right" kind of minority). We will be there to pay for other larger segments of society while receiving little in return.
What can you do about it...
True.
"Dang. I wanted 50 and you got it."
Purely by accident, but it stayed in the family.
Gen X the ADD generation!
Perhaps you are just whiney then. And you also make far too many broad generalizations.
And degredation is actually spelled degradation.
Is the X part a reference to eyes?
