How about Jeb Bush? I want the most conservative candidate nominated, and he is supposed to be eons smarter than his older brother. (Has a better speaking style, at any rate). I'm sure we can do better than the first term governor of South Carolina. The governor of Ohio would be a better choice, as it would keep Ohio in the current mix of red electoral states, and would bring all the rest with it.

Bob Taft has been somewhat of a disaster. Not too popular among the faithful here. I have doubts that he'd do well nationally.
Jeb Bush? Seems like a good man. But I'm worried there may be a sense among the electorate of "Bush fatigue". With the exception of the '96 debacle, that name has been on the national ballot going back to 1980. True, we've won the majority of those contests, but I'm wondering if the 'Rats might not make some issue out of the "it's time for a change" notion? We can pre-empt that by getting a good, new, fresh face in there.

I would agree with you.
Jeb has won consistently in the Blue State (though turning Red).
We do seem to like to elect Governors in the US. Though G W will have to have a great second term to make it possible. As we also like Dynasties like the Kennedys.
