Hilary Shelton, the director of the NAACP's Washington bureau, described what he called deception techniques targeting minorities on Election Day. Flyers were sent to black voters telling them the election was two days after the actual date, Shelton charged.

"We were told that if you were for one party, you would vote on one day, on November 2, but if you were the member of another party -- a party that over 88 percent of African Americans supported in this last election -- your day to vote was two days later," Shelton said.

"And indeed people came out to vote two days later and found out they could not cast that vote because of the kind of trickery that [they] were still experiencing," he added. "The trickery has become much more insidious than ever before."

My word. Where does one start? Do these people live on another planet? Where in the world had they been for the last year? Did anyone ever hear that there were two election days? As far as I can remember, election day has always been the first Tuesday in November. Aren't these people educated on election procedures by their precints? This woman has got to be lying.

I have never heard of a single documented case of such nonsense. You'd have to be from another planet not to know the correct election day.

If someone sent out such notices, where is a hard copy example? It would also have a postmark and probably a return address.

Folks as stupid as the NAACP claims their folks are, are certainly too stupid to vote...

Actually, Election Day is in November, and is the first Tuesday AFTER THE FIRST MONDAY. Therefore, the earliest an election could be held would be November 2. Tuesday, November 1 could NEVER be an Election Day.

And if, after decades of voting for that party you are still too stupid to know when election day is, you've been tricked alright - but not by the other party.

And if you're that effing stupid, you just flunked the IQ test for voting!

I've got a few modest proposals for improving our voting process:
1) Do away with early voting - it only multiplies the opportunity for fraud;
2) Do away with "provisional" ballots - if you can't register and vote in the right place, tough shot!
3)Institute a written voting IQ test for first-time voters - in English. The only exceptions would be for those certified blind, who would get an oral test.
Minimum 80 IQ required to be allowed to vote.
(This provision alone would probably have eliminated 20% of the Kerry vote)

Now I do remember Glenn Beck on more than one occasion saying (with tongue firmly planted in cheek) that the day for Republicans to vote was Nov. 2 and Democrats were supposed to vote on Nov. 3, AND, considering the political awareness level of some of his contestants on Moron Trivia, I wouldn't doubt at all that some dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks people actually DID think that Dems were supposed to vote on Wednesday.

I'm sure that Glenn figured anyone who was that ignorant shouldn't be voting. I think that anyone who is that ignorant shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets without their parole officer.
