Al Jazeera Documentary Angers Arabs at Film Fest December 8, 2004

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Another documentary besides Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" is under fire this time.

Writer/director Jehane Noujaim's "Control Room," about Al Jazeera television, incensed Arabs at a special screening at the Dubai International Film Festival on Monday, Dec. 6, reports Reuters.

It was a rare event since the popular channel, which covers the war in Iraq and other news, is currently banned in five Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Arab governments object to the controversial, no-holds-barred reporting in countries where the media is mainly controlled by the state. Washington isn't too pleased with the programming either, claiming that it paints the U.S. in a bad light, which is dangerous for the U.S.-backed government currently in Iraq.

Even the audience, which included "Million Dollar Baby" star Morgan Freeman, found the film hard to take.

"I did not like the film. It made me feel sad," says Gabriel Bakhazi, a Lebanese man living in Canada. "I didn't see anything to laugh at. Your film made me feel more angry and powerless."

"Control Room" has been released in the West and will open in Dubai and Cairo. The film competes against a host of other documentaries -- including "Fahrenheit 9/11," "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," "Born into Brothels" and "The Corporation" -- for the top prize at the International Documentary Association's Distinguished Achievement Awards on Friday, Dec. 10.

"Your film made me feel more angry and powerless."

Sounds like a DNC talking point. Is there anything that doesn't make muslims angry?

Oh yes - beheading infidel westerners doesn't seem to get them too worked up

Sounds like just more of the standard fodder of the resentful, hateful, jealous anti-American mob...they all "look" and sound alike now.

Huh??? Fahrenheit 9/11 is a documentary???

Oh yeah, that's right, it documents Moore's absurd collection of self-created falsities and fecal matter !!!

Fathead's 911 is Hezbollah's choice...

HEZBOLLAH ENDORSES FAHRENHEIT 9/11 - OFFERS HELP FOR DISTRIBUTION

The Canadian distributor of Michael Moore's film saw no problems with this since not every nation considers Hezbollah a terrorist group.
